Let’s go skiing at Mammoth!!
Okay, so you’ve seen my little glimpse of skiing at Mammoth, but let me tell you, it was an epic day from start to finish! This trip has been such a unique experience for us, staying at an RV Park for six months – I’ve never lived in an RV before, and honestly, it’s been so good. My mornings usually start with my ritual iced matcha; I’ve been experimenting with both hot and iced lately, and it really sets the tone for a day on the slopes. Just that little routine gets me in the perfect 'skiervibe' before even heading out. Once we’re fueled up, it’s just a quick 15-minute drive to get to the mountain, which is absolutely perfect. You get that exhilarating 'skiervibe' the moment you see the peaks looming large. We planned to spend a couple of hours up there today, and let me tell you, Mammoth does not disappoint with its incredible variety of terrain! Now, about those moguls – if you’re heading to Mammoth, you’re bound to encounter them. For anyone new to the term, moguls are those fascinating bumps and mounds of snow that naturally form on ski runs, often created by skiers making repeated turns in the same spots. They can look incredibly intimidating from the chairlift, but they’re also an incredibly fun and challenging aspect of skiing once you start to get the hang of them. Mammoth has some fantastic mogul runs, ranging from gentle rollers perfect for practicing to seriously challenging fields that demand precision, agility, and stamina. I found myself really pushing my limits on some of the steeper, bumped-up sections today, focusing intently on quick, rhythmic turns to absorb the impact of each bump. It’s a full-body workout, truly embodying that 'outdoor hiking, runner' spirit, but on skis! There's such a unique flow and rhythm to mogul skiing, and a huge sense of accomplishment when you navigate a challenging mogul field smoothly. It’s where you really feel connected to the mountain. Beyond the thrill of carving through fresh snow and tackling moguls, the sheer beauty of Mammoth Mountain is something else entirely. We made sure to take some time to just soak it all in. The views from what felt like the 'top of the world' were absolutely breathtaking – you can see for miles and miles across the Sierra Nevada! And those 'rocks are insane,' adding to the dramatic, rugged landscape. It really makes you want to 'hike out there' and explore even more, which is definitely on our list for another day. It’s not just about the skiing; it’s the whole immersive mountain experience. Coming down after a few exhilarating hours, muscles tired but spirits high, there’s nothing quite like it. Whether you’re a seasoned pro looking to conquer expert moguls or just starting out and curious to try some gentler bumps, Mammoth truly has something for everyone. It was definitely a 'spend the day with me' kind of adventure, and I can’t wait to go back and hit those majestic slopes again!
