Aphids are small, soft-bodied insects that cluster on new growth; rinsing the plants with water or using insecticidal soap can effectively control them. Fungus gnats are dark-colored flies that can damage roots by laying eggs in moist soil. Allowing the soil to dry out between waterings and using yellow sticky traps can help catch them.
