Trash Bowl Lunch
This has to be my new favorite food trend, it’s so resourceful and saves me trips to the grocery store:
1.) start with a substantial carb source (rice, potatos, chickpeas, a combo)
2.) add a protein (preferably lean)
3.) add color for micronutrients (veg and leafy greens)
4.) add a fat source (avocado, nuts, seeds, oil)
And presto a filling lower calorie nutrient dense meal that will keep you full and satisfied for hours!
The Trash Bowl Lunch concept is gaining popularity due to its flexibility and health benefits. It encourages creativity by allowing you to mix and match ingredients based on what’s available. Start with a base of grains like rice or potatoes, then layer on proteins such as lean meats or beans, and top it off with vibrant vegetables. Incorporating a variety of colors not only makes the meal visually appealing but also enhances its nutritional profile. Leafy greens like spinach or kale add essential vitamins and minerals, while ingredients like avocado or nuts provide healthy fats that promote satiety. This meal prep-friendly approach minimizes food waste, making it an eco-conscious choice for sustainable eating. Perfect for lunch or dinner, this customizable bowl can cater to specific dietary needs, whether you’re looking for vegetarian, vegan, or gluten-free options. With the Trash Bowl, you can enjoy a nutrient-dense meal that fuels your day.
