From my skincare journey, I realized that not all masks suit every skin type—knowing the right one makes a huge difference. For example, sheet masks are nourishing and great for all skin types, but some like Biodance’s rice serum mask are especially gentle and hydrating, making them perfect for sensitive skin. They’re a blessing when stored in the fridge for that refreshing chill! Gel masks work wonders for sensitive skin by soothing and cooling inflammation, but I found they should be used sparingly, about once a week, to avoid irritation. On the other hand, clay and mud masks are amazing for oily or acne-prone skin as they absorb excess oil and unclog pores; however, overusing them can dry out your skin, so limiting use to once or twice a week gives the best results. Charcoal masks are excellent for deep cleansing and fighting acne but can cause dryness if used too often. I make sure to use them no more than once or twice a week, especially since my skin can get sensitive. Bubble masks are fun and hydrating, suitable for most skin types, but I learned it’s easy to overdo it, risking your skin’s protective barrier. Cream masks provide intense moisture, ideal for dry skin and post-sun care—especially during colder months when my skin’s thirst increases. Sleeping masks, like the WM Extra Collagen Firming Sleeping Mask, have become my go-to for overnight hydration, especially when my skin is dehydrated. They can be used up to three times weekly depending on your skin’s needs. Exfoliating masks with AHA/BHA are great for removing dead skin cells but must be used cautiously, particularly if you have sensitive skin—once a week is enough. Timing is key: I usually apply hydrating or sheet masks after cleansing and toning but before moisturizer to lock in nutrients. Clay masks fit best earlier in the routine or on days when I need a deep cleanse. If you have kids, it’s best to choose gentle, skin-type-compatible masks with minimal irritants. I’ve found brands offering clear pros and cons in gentleness and efficacy help me shop smarter. Overall, balancing different masks according to your skin’s changing needs and avoiding overuse are the real glow-up secrets. Trust your skin’s signals and enjoy the ritual!
