Lorac Powder Contour Palette
Trying #Lorac a company that I've never even heard of.
I'm not impressed with the Pallet Pro #Contour Pallet. Comes with 3 powder shades: a cool-toned contour, warm-toned bronzer, and lightening powder. Since I dislike powdered bronzers & contours, this product isn't for me. Even though I'm not the target audience, I rate it a 5️⃣/🔟✨ because it broke up the base and results were "patchy." Don't recommend it.
It's always a bummer when a highly anticipated makeup product, like the Lorac Powder Contour Palette, doesn't quite live up to expectations, especially for us advanced makeup enthusiasts who are constantly seeking long-lasting, layerable products with strong value. The experience of seeing your base break up or becoming patchy after just a few hours (like my 6-hour wear test with the Lorac palette) is seriously frustrating. But don't worry, there are definitely ways to achieve that sculpted, long-lasting contour in your daily makeup routine, and it often starts with understanding how contour interacts with your other base products, especially concealer. For those of us who prioritize a flawless finish that lasts all day, finding the right concealer is just as crucial as finding the perfect contour. Since the core article touched on a powder contour, let's dive into how different concealer types can either make or break your contouring game, offering some 'pros and cons' in the context of your daily routine, even if we're not naming specific brands. 1. Liquid Concealers: These are super popular and versatile. Pros: They're generally easy to blend, can be layered without looking too heavy, and come in a wide range of finishes from natural to matte. They often work well with both powder and cream contours if you choose a formula that isn't too emollient. Many offer decent long-wear properties. Cons: Some lighter formulas might not offer enough coverage if you have significant discoloration, and some can crease if not set properly. They might also feel a bit thin under a very strong cream contour. 2. Cream Concealers: These usually come in pots or sticks and tend to be thicker and more pigmented than liquids. Pros: Excellent for full coverage and fantastic for sculpting, as they blend seamlessly with cream contour products. They often provide a really smooth, skin-like finish and can be very long-lasting when set correctly. If you're using a Petite PRO Contour Palette in cream, a cream concealer is a natural partner. Cons: Can sometimes feel heavier on the skin, and if you apply too much, they might look cakey. Some can settle into fine lines or feel sticky if not properly powdered, potentially leading to patchiness over time if not chosen wisely. 3. Stick Concealers: These offer convenience and buildable coverage. Pros: Super easy for quick touch-ups or targeted application. They can be quite long-lasting and offer good coverage without much fuss, making them great for on-the-go routines. Cons: Can be a bit drier, making them harder to blend out smoothly, especially if your skin is dry. This dryness can sometimes make them prone to cracking or looking a bit stiff under contour, which could contribute to that 'broken up' look after a few hours. Achieving Longevity and Layerability: Regardless of the concealer type, for an advanced makeup enthusiast focused on contouring, value isn't just about price; it's about performance. Look for concealers that explicitly state 'long-wearing,' 'non-creasing,' and 'buildable.' The key is to ensure your concealer provides a smooth, stable base that can withstand the subsequent layers of contour, bronzer, and lightening powder without breaking down. Always apply your contour products (whether cream or powder) after your concealer, ensuring you blend each layer meticulously. Setting your concealer lightly with a finely milled powder can also dramatically improve its wear time and prevent issues like patchiness, especially when pairing it with a powder contour. My personal experience, like the 6-hour test, has taught me that the interaction between all these layers is critical for a truly long-lasting look.
