Clinique Charcoal makeup remover review
Responding to @Irene🦋 trying the @Clinique Take The Day Off Charcoal #CleansingBalm
8️⃣/🔟✨ It didn't remove stubborn eye makeup and still required a double cleanse, BUT it removed all base makeup flawlessly and left my skin feeling clean, tight and not dry. 🥰🥰🥳🤌🏻

I know many of you have been curious about the Clinique Take The Day Off Charcoal Cleansing Balm, and I'm here to spill all the tea after trying it myself! It’s one of those products I’ve seen pop up everywhere, and I was eager to see if it lived up to the hype, especially with the charcoal addition promising a deep cleanse. When you first scoop it out, it definitely 'looks like tar' – a thick, dark balm. But don't let that fool you! Once you warm it between your hands, it melts into a luxurious, smooth oil that glides effortlessly over your skin. I usually 'applied more' than a pea-sized amount, especially on days with heavier makeup, to ensure full coverage. It feels really decadent as you massage it in, and you can literally see your makeup starting to dissolve. For foundation, concealer, blush, and even waterproof sunscreen, this balm is a dream. It genuinely 'removes all base makeup flawlessly', leaving absolutely 'no leftover base products'. My skin felt incredibly clean and soft after just this first step. However, this is where it gets a little tricky for me personally. While it makes quick work of my face makeup, I found that stubborn waterproof mascara and long-wearing liquid eyeliner were a real challenge. Even after massaging it in thoroughly, there was often 'eye makeup still lingering' around my lash line, requiring extra effort. Because of this, and my personal preference for a squeaky-clean feel, this balm absolutely necessitates a '2nd cleanse' for me. After rinsing off the balm – I used lukewarm water, sometimes aided by a soft washcloth rather than a 'coarse washcloth' to be gentle – I followed up with my regular gel cleanser. This combination ensures that every last trace of makeup, impurities, and the balm itself is gone, preparing my skin perfectly for serums and moisturizers. What I absolutely love, though, is how my 'skin feels clean' afterwards. It has that satisfying 'face feels tight' sensation, but crucially, it's 'not overly dry'. My skin felt balanced and refreshed, never stripped or uncomfortable, which is a big win for a charcoal-based product designed for deep cleansing. Some charcoal products can be quite harsh, but this one maintained a good balance. Overall, while it scored an 8/10 for me due to its slight struggle with stubborn eye makeup, its stellar performance on base makeup and the excellent post-cleanse feel make it a strong contender in my skincare routine. If you're someone who wears a full face of base makeup daily, doesn't mind a separate eye makeup remover, or is committed to a dedicated double cleanse routine, then this balm is definitely worth considering. It’s a solid choice for its intended purpose and a great way to 'take the day off' your face makeup effectively without stripping your skin.
