YSL Foundation 1st Impressions
Shortened version of the #YSL #Foundation review (no stitch)
I've been hearing so much buzz about the YSL All Hours Foundation, especially the 'Luminous Natural Matte' version, and I finally decided to put it to the ultimate test. As someone always on the hunt for a long-wearing base that tackles shine without looking flat, the promise of 24H wear and SPF 30 with Hyaluronic Acid really caught my eye. At $62, it's definitely an investment, so I wanted to share my honest experience to help you decide if it's worth adding to your makeup bag. My shade, C2 Light Cool, was a perfect match for my skin tone, which is always a great start! The bottle itself feels luxurious, weighty glass with the iconic YSL logo – definitely a countertop stunner. When it came to application, I tried a couple of methods, as I usually do. First, with my trusty e.l.f. foundation brush, I found it spread beautifully and blended out quite effortlessly. The consistency is fluid but not too runny, giving you enough time to work with it. I also experimented with a damp sponge, gently pushing the foundation into my pores, which gave an even more seamless, skin-like finish, really minimizing the look of texture. It didn't feel heavy or cakey at all, which is a big win for a longwear formula. The finish is exactly as described: a beautiful luminous natural matte. It gave my skin a healthy glow without making me look greasy, and it did a fantastic job at blurring imperfections and evening out my skin tone. I'd say it offers solid medium, buildable coverage, which is perfect for everyday wear but can be amped up for special occasions. Now for the real test: the wear. The claim is 24H Longwear, and while I didn't wear it for a full 24 hours (who does?!), I did wear it for a solid 12-14 hours through a busy day. I was genuinely impressed! My T-zone usually gets shiny by midday, but with the All Hours Foundation, I noticed significantly less oil breakthrough. It held up remarkably well, even through a quick workout and running errands. There was minimal fading, and it didn't settle into fine lines or pores in a noticeable way. My skin still looked fresh and put-together by the evening, which is a testament to its long-wearing power. The SPF 30 is an added bonus for daily protection, and I love that it includes Hyaluronic Acid for some skin hydration benefits, which often isn't the case with matte foundations. So, is it worth the $62 price tag? For me, yes. If you're looking for a medium-to-full coverage foundation that truly lasts all day, controls shine, and still gives you a natural, luminous finish without feeling heavy, this is a strong contender. It performs beautifully, looks great on the skin, and the added SPF and skincare ingredients are a definite plus. It's become a new staple in my routine for those days when I need my makeup to go the distance. I'm already thinking about my 'Final Thoughts' for a Part 2, but these first impressions are overwhelmingly positive!
