... Read moreHey everyone! So many of you have asked about how I started receiving PR packages, especially as a micro-influencer. It can feel a bit overwhelming at first, but trust me, it’s totally achievable! When I hit around 4K followers, like in the article, I started getting some amazing opportunities, and I want to share my tips on how you can reach out to brands too.
First things first: Research is key. Don't just blindly email every brand. Think about brands you genuinely love and use regularly. For example, I've always been a fan of brands like Rare Beauty and Colourpop, which you might have seen in some of my recent gifted hauls. These are often great starting points because your enthusiasm will shine through. Look at who other micro-influencers in your niche are collaborating with. Sometimes, newer or smaller brands are more open to working with rising creators. Brands like Live Tinted and Armani Beauty, which also sent me some fantastic products, often have dedicated creator programs or are looking for authentic voices.
Once you have a list, it's time to craft that compelling pitch email. This isn't just about asking for free stuff; it's about showcasing the value you bring.
Personalize Everything: Start with a personal greeting and mention a specific product you love or a recent campaign of theirs that caught your eye. Show you've done your homework!
Highlight Your Niche & Audience: Clearly state who you are, what your content is about, and who your audience is. For instance, “I create engaging beauty content for Gen Z interested in affordable yet effective skincare and makeup.”
Share Your Stats (Briefly): You don't need millions of followers! Emphasize your engagement rate, not just follower count. Mention your demographics if they're relevant to the brand. “With 4K engaged followers, my audience consistently interacts with my honest reviews.”
Show Your Best Work (Media Kit/Portfolio): Attach or link to a simple, professional media kit or a few examples of your high-quality content. The OCR mentions various products like pressed powder, liquid foundation, mascara, lip pencils, moisturizing cream, eye cream, essences, toners, cleansing oil – if you have content featuring similar items, include those. This is where your skills in photography and video really shine!
State Your Value Proposition: What can you offer? Is it authentic reviews, creative photoshoot ideas, a unique perspective? Be specific. “I would love to create a Reel showcasing your new sculpting contour stick, emphasizing its blendability for everyday use.”
Clear Call to Action: What do you want? Is it a product for review, a paid collaboration, or an intro to their PR team? “I'd be thrilled to discuss a potential collaboration or to be considered for your next creator deck.”
Remember, getting PR packages, whether from an app, an agency, or even winning an Instagram giveaway, is also about building relationships. Don't be discouraged by no-responses. Keep creating amazing content, engage with your audience, and maintain a professional attitude. The beauty community is vast, and many brands, from those creating Rare Beauty skincare products to Giorgio Armani cheek tints, are actively seeking genuine voices regardless of follower size. Persistence and passion are your best assets!
