Lately, the verse from Jude 1:21, which says, 'Keep yourselves in the love of God, looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ unto eternal life,' has been resonating deeply with me. It’s not just a beautiful scripture; it’s a profound call to action and a source of immense comfort. When I first read it, I wondered, what does it truly mean to 'keep ourselves' in God’s love? Is it something we earn? My personal journey has shown me it’s much more about actively participating in a love that’s already freely given, rather than trying to earn it. For me, 'keeping ourselves in the love of God' isn't about being perfect, but about consistently orienting our lives towards Him. Imagine it like nurturing a precious garden, much like the lush green plants I saw in an image recently. You don’t create the plants, but you water them, give them light, and protect them so they can flourish. Similarly, God’s love is the environment, and our role is to remain in it and thrive. Here are some of the ways I try to do this in my daily life: First, consistent prayer is absolutely vital. It’s my direct line to God, a time to share my joys, my fears, and simply listen. Just like any relationship, communication keeps it strong. Through prayer, I feel His presence and reassurance, which helps me stay grounded in His love. Second, diving into His Word is incredibly enriching. Reading the Bible, especially verses like Jude 1:21, helps me understand God's character and His incredible love for humanity. It’s like reading His love letter to us, revealing His promises and wisdom. The more I understand who He is, the easier it is to trust and remain in His love. Third, Christian community has been a game-changer. Surrounding myself with fellow believers who are also striving to live in God's love provides encouragement, accountability, and support. We can lift each other up, share our struggles, and celebrate our victories together. It's a reminder that we're not alone in this journey. Lastly, the verse also speaks of 'looking for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.' This part is so crucial because it acknowledges our human imperfection. We will inevitably stumble, but Jesus's mercy is always there. It’s a comforting thought that even when I fall short, His grace is sufficient. It reminds me that my relationship with God is founded on His boundless mercy, not on my own fleeting efforts. This constant reliance on Jesus's mercy is what ultimately leads 'unto eternal life.' It’s not just about a future destination; it's about living a life now that is filled with His peace and purpose, knowing that our ultimate hope rests in Him. This verse truly encapsulates the essence of the Christian journey for me, a daily walk of faith, hope, and abiding in His incredible love.
