Beyond Trainline, which offers comprehensive train bookings across many European countries, consider using Rome2rio. Rome2rio is highly recommended as it provides multi-modal travel options, allowing you to search for trains, buses, flights, and ferries all in one platform, thus giving you more flexibility in how you travel between different cities and countries. While Trainline is excellent for intercity train journeys, Rome2rio shines when you need to plan complex routes involving various modes of transport. This app also shows estimated costs and travel times, helping you to make cost-effective and time-efficient decisions. Additionally, when using Citymapper, keep in mind that it offers detailed public transit maps and live updates for many European cities, making urban navigation much easier whether you're walking, taking buses, or using the metro. Pairing this with a reliable translation app like Google Translate ensures you can communicate effectively in regions where English is less common. Don’t forget local apps too—such as Glovo for food and grocery delivery when you want a break from sightseeing, or The Fork and OpenTable to book popular restaurants ahead of time—saving you from long waits. For train travel, researching the best train stations that also offer excellent dining options can add an unexpected delight to your journey. Many European train stations have gourmet food courts and local cuisine, turning layovers into culinary adventures. In all, combining these apps and tips will not only make your multi-city European trip hassle-free but also enrich your travel experience with local flavors, culture, and convenience at your fingertips.
