From my experience, incorporating the right carbs before and after leg day really makes a difference in performance and recovery. I usually opt for nutrient-dense carbs such as sweet potatoes, oats, and rice because they provide sustained energy without causing a crash. For example, my favorite carb snack before workouts is a serving of sweet potato or a small oat yogurt bowl with just the right amount of oats to keep me fueled. It's also important to pay attention to portion sizes and the quality of carbs. Complex carbs break down slowly, providing energy over time, which is perfect for long or intense sessions like leg day. Meanwhile, quick carbs can be useful right after training to replenish glycogen stores. Pairing carbs with protein is another crucial tip I follow. Protein helps with muscle repair and growth, so foods like chicken breast with cauliflower and sweet potato are a staple in my meals. This balance supports my recovery after doing 10k steps, 30 minutes of incline cardio, and leg-focused training. Lastly, don’t forget hydration and listen to your body's signals. On days when training feels more exhausting, adjusting carb intake slightly can help maintain energy levels. Hope this insight into carb management during leg day motivates and helps others on their fitness journeys!
