D1 | first day of mini cut

Holiday mode is officially over and I’m easing back into routine again while still not being too restrictive.

Starting a 5-week mini cut/reset just in time for CNY and Day 1 felt good (I even went for a run). Stayed within calories, hit my protein, and feeling a little more in control already 🤍

From my personal experience, planning your meals ahead is essential to avoid impulsive eating. I found incorporating high-protein snacks like protein muffins and Arla protein chocolate pudding, which contain 20g of protein per serving with no added sugar, helped keep my hunger in check throughout the day. Balancing calorie intake while maintaining energy levels for workouts is critical. On Day 1, I included lean chicken breast paired with roasted cabbage, a nutrient-dense meal that fuels recovery without overshooting calories. Additionally, tracking the running pace and distance—an 8km run at an average pace of 5:45 min/km—helped me monitor progress and stay motivated. Another tip I would share is to be flexible rather than overly restrictive. Easing back into routine after a holiday period allowed me to enjoy my meals while remaining mindful of my goals. This practical approach contributes greatly to sticking with a mini cut over several weeks. Lastly, regular check-ins on energy levels and mood made it easier to adjust my diet or activity if needed. Overall, a mini cut before significant events like the Chinese New Year can reset your habits and enhance your confidence on your health journey.
