I can’t carry this alone Lord.
Lord, stay close to me tonight. Wrap me in Your peace when my thoughts run wild. Remind me that my tears are never wasted and my weakness is not hidden from You. Give me strength where I have none, hope where I feel empty, and light where all I see is dark. I don’t need to have it all together, what I need is You. Hold me through this storm and carry me into tomorrow with Your love. #glowwithingrace #faithjourney #silentbattles #lordholdme #bewithmegod
I know that feeling, friend. That deep exhaustion where you're tired of pretending to be strong, feeling so weak inside, and just needing God to meet you in the silence. It’s in those moments of vulnerability that we often seek deeper connection with our Creator, and for me, one of the most profound ways to do that has been through spiritual fasting. Fasting isn't just about abstaining from food; it's a powerful spiritual discipline designed to draw us closer to God. It’s a way to humble ourselves, sharpen our spiritual senses, and dedicate our focus entirely to Him, especially when we feel like we can't bear this weight by ourselves. When we remove physical distractions, even temporarily, it creates space for God to speak to us, provide strength where we have none, and remind us that we don't have to carry our burdens alone. When I've been in tough seasons, feeling like I'm falling and no one else knows, I've turned to specific Bible verses to guide my fasting journey. Here are some that have truly resonated with me, helping me to acknowledge my need for God and find His peace: Matthew 6:16-18 (The Right Heart in Fasting): "When you fast, do not look somber as the hypocrites do, for they disfigure their faces to show others they are fasting. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you fast, put oil on your head and wash your face, so that it will not be obvious to others that you are fasting, but only to your Father, who is unseen; and your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you." This verse is a beautiful reminder that our fasting is a personal act between us and God. It’s in that secret place, in the silence, that He truly meets us. Isaiah 58:6-7 (The True Fast): "Is not this the kind of fasting I have chosen: to loose the chains of injustice and untie the cords of the yoke, to set the oppressed free and break every yoke? Is it not to share your food with the hungry and to provide the poor wanderer with shelter—when you see the naked, to clothe them, and not to turn away from your own flesh and blood?" This passage taught me that true fasting goes beyond personal sacrifice; it's about aligning our hearts with God's heart for justice and compassion. It’s a call to action that brings spiritual and practical change. Joel 2:12-13 (Returning to the Lord): "'Even now,' declares the Lord, 'return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.' Rend your heart and not your garments. Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, a God who relents from sending calamity." When I feel utterly empty, these verses remind me that God is always waiting for us to return to Him, and fasting can be a powerful expression of that sincere desire. Daniel 10:2-3, 12 (Fasting for Understanding): "In those days I, Daniel, mourned for three weeks. I ate no choice food; no meat or wine touched my lips; and I used no lotions at all until the three weeks were over… Then he continued, 'Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.'" Daniel's journey shows us that fasting can be a profound way to seek God's wisdom and understanding, especially when facing difficult decisions or feeling lost. Acts 13:2-3 (Seeking Guidance for Ministry): "While they were worshiping the Lord and fasting, the Holy Spirit said, 'Set apart for me Barnabas and Saul for the work to which I have called them.' So after they had fasted and prayed, they placed their hands on them and sent them off." This passage demonstrates how fasting can be integral to seeking God's direction for important steps in our lives, whether personal or communal. It truly helps us hear His voice more clearly. If you're feeling weak, overwhelmed, or just in need of a deeper connection with God, consider embarking on a spiritual fast. Start small, perhaps by giving up one meal, or a specific food, or even a non-food item like social media, for a set period. The goal isn't self-deprivation, but rather creating a space for God to fill you. It's about saying, "I need You, Lord," and creating an opportunity for Him to meet you there, hold you, and remind you that you don't have to bear this weight alone. He genuinely sees what is done in secret and will strengthen you for tomorrow with His love.
Amen. God is awesome God
