... Read moreWe all dream of that 'future self' – the one who's confident, organized, and truly thriving. For me, the journey to becoming that person started with a realistic glow-up checklist. It’s not about grand gestures, but consistent, small habits that accumulate into big changes. If you're wondering how to really kickstart your transformation, here's how I implemented these 10 habits to step into my 'CEO self' and why they made such a difference.
1. Waking Early: This one felt impossible at first! But I started by moving my alarm back just 15 minutes, then 30. That extra quiet time in the morning became my sanctuary for planning, reflecting, or simply enjoying a cup of tea before the day's demands began. It truly set a peaceful and productive tone.
2. Journaling: My journal became my best friend. It’s a space where I can dump all my thoughts, celebrate small wins, or even strategize for my week. It’s incredible how much clarity and self-awareness you gain just by putting pen to paper daily.
3. Using Elevated Language: I noticed a huge shift when I became mindful of my words, both internally and externally. Swapping out negative self-talk for affirmations and choosing more empowering vocabulary made me feel more articulate and confident. It’s like my brain started believing what I was saying!
4. Decluttering: My space directly reflects my mind. A messy room often meant a chaotic headspace for me. I started small – one drawer, one shelf – and slowly, my entire living area felt lighter and more organized. This physical decluttering translated into mental clarity, making room for new ideas.
5. Mirror Affirmations: This felt a bit silly at first, I won't lie! But looking at myself in the mirror and speaking positive affirmations, like 'I am capable,' or 'I am deserving,' gradually reshaped my self-perception. It's a powerful way to build self-love and confidence from within.
6. Tracking Habits: To stay accountable, I used a simple habit tracker. Seeing those checkmarks daily, whether in a bullet journal or an app, was incredibly motivating. It showed me visual progress and reinforced my commitment to consistency, helping me stick to my 'glow up checklist'.
7. Protecting Time: Learning to say 'no' was a game-changer. I realized my time was a precious resource, and I needed to safeguard it for activities that truly aligned with my goals and well-being. This meant setting boundaries with friends, family, and even work, freeing up energy for my own growth.
8. Dressing Well: 'Dressing well' to me isn't about expensive clothes, but about putting thought and effort into my appearance. Even on days I work from home, choosing an outfit that makes me feel put-together instantly boosts my mood and confidence. It's about honoring myself.
9. Learning Daily: My 'future self' is always growing. I make it a point to learn something new every day, whether it's through a podcast during my commute, a chapter of a book, or a quick online article. This continuous learning keeps my mind engaged and helps me evolve.
10. Saying 'No' to Misaligned Things: This is arguably the most challenging but most rewarding habit. It requires self-awareness to identify what truly doesn't serve your vision for your 'CEO self' and the courage to politely decline. It frees up immense mental and emotional space, allowing you to focus on what genuinely brings you closer to your goals.
