⭐️ Wrong Place Wrong Time

The style of this book was a little different for me but wow it works so well. i loved every piece of this book and it has become a favorite of mine after reading a second time.

⭐️When We Collided

Originally i read this book in high school and connected with it a lot. i gave it another go and it was so rewarded to reread and look back. this book is definitely a favorite of mine for its raw and deep emotion and meaning.

⭐️ The Names They Gave Us

After reading When We Collided i wanted to try some more Emery Lord. this book was so emotional for me and i don’t have any history with any of the topic discussed. i can’t imagine reading it with history of anything mentioned.

... Read moreThe original post merely scratched the surface of some truly impactful books, especially the ones by Emery Lord that have become genuine 5-star reads for me! When people search for "When We Collided" or "The Names They Gave Us," I imagine they're looking for more than just a plot summary – they're seeking to understand the heart of these stories. "When We Collided" is a book that left an indelible mark, and rereading it years after my first encounter in high school was incredibly rewarding. The story of Vivi and Jonah, navigating their first love amidst Vivi's struggles with bipolar disorder, is depicted with such rawness and empathy. Emery Lord doesn't shy away from the complexities of mental health, especially in the turbulent landscape of adolescence. Jonah's unwavering support, while also dealing with his own challenges, makes their connection feel profoundly authentic. It’s a testament to Lord’s skill that these characters and their emotional journey stayed with me for so long, and gained even more depth on a second read. The book cover, often featuring elements of nature or intimacy, perfectly encapsulates the tender yet tumultuous journey within its pages, promising a story of deep emotional resonance. It's no surprise it boasts a high five-star user rating among readers who appreciate its honest portrayal of love and resilience. Following that powerful experience, I eagerly delved into "The Names They Gave Us." This novel further solidified Emery Lord as an author who handles difficult themes with remarkable grace. Lucy’s world unravels when her mother is diagnosed with cancer, sending her on a journey of questioning faith, friendship, and self-discovery while volunteering at a camp for children with illnesses. Lord masterfully explores grief, doubt, and the search for meaning without resorting to easy answers. The emotional weight of Lucy's story, even without personal history with the specific topics, felt universal and deeply moving. Emery Lord has a unique talent for crafting characters that feel so real, almost like friends you’re rooting for, and for writing prose that is both lyrical and profoundly insightful. Her books are more than just stories; they are windows into complex human experiences that resonate long after the final page is turned. While Emery Lord's books provide poignant depth, my reading year was also brightened by discovering authors like Carley Fortune, whose "This Summer Will Be Different" offered a delightful, lighthearted counterpoint, proving that 5-star experiences come in many forms. And I even ventured into the thrilling world of mystery. Books like "Then She Was Gone" and "Wrong Place Wrong Time" proved to be gripping page-turners, showcasing clever plots and suspense that kept me absolutely hooked. Ultimately, these 5-star reads, whether an intensely emotional YA novel or a cleverly plotted thriller, have made this a truly memorable reading year for me. Each book cover, from the evocative to the mysterious, hinted at the rich stories within, and each delivered an unforgettable experience. It's a wonderful feeling to find books that truly speak to you and leave a lasting impression. I hope these insights encourage you to pick them up too!
