Meal Habits That Shifted My Weight Loss Journey
I remember saying I’d be sharing some of the **meal habit tips** I’ve been using on my **weight loss journey**, and today I’m keeping that promise.
One of the biggest things I’ve been learning is this—it’s not about racing to the finish line. It’s about *how you get there*. Small shifts, consistent habits, and most importantly, a **renewed mindset**.
Romans 12:2 reminds us to “be transformed by the renewing of your mind.” This isn’t just about food—it’s about letting the **Word of God** transform how we think, eat, and live, so we can walk by the **Spirit** and not the flesh.
The Bible also tells us that one of the **fruits of the Spirit** is *self-control*—and let me tell you, as a foodie, chef, and someone raised in Jamaican culture where we were taught to "finish your plate"... that was a lesson.
But the **Holy Spirit** has been renewing my mind. I’m learning that full is full. Sometimes it’s not even about being full—it’s about telling yourself **no**, and honoring that fruit of self-control.
Today’s small shift? I had **rice and peas**, a bit of **baked ham**, and **spinach**—but I had it for **brunch**, not dinner. I’ve been changing *what I eat* and *when I eat it*—putting my heavier meals earlier in the day so I don’t feel heavy at night.
So I ask you, love: Can you relate? What little shifts are you making in your journey?
Let’s walk this out together—**with the Holy Spirit as our trainer** and grace as our guide. If you want deeper support, join our **God DaughterSS wellness ministry** where we walk alongside women just like you.

Embarking on a weight loss journey can be challenging, but with intentional meal habits, it becomes achievable. One effective strategy is adjusting the timing of your meals. Consuming heavier meals earlier in the day, such as having rice and peas with baked ham for brunch, can prevent the discomfort of feeling bloated at night. Another key aspect is to practice self-control, one of the fruits of the Spirit, which enables individuals to listen to their bodies instead of societal norms that dictate finishing every plate. Scriptures like Romans 12:2 encourage us to renew our minds, which translates into healthier eating habits and improved well-being. Sharing your journey with supportive communities, like the God DaughterSS wellness ministry, emphasizes the importance of collective encouragement. It can be enlightening to explore how your cultural background influences your eating patterns. Engaging in discussions about personal struggles fosters understanding and growth. By centering your journey around spiritual principles and personal accountability, you can create sustainable habits that lead to long-term success. Small shifts matter, and every decision counts in transforming your relationship with food and your body.
