BEFORE RELIGION, WHAT WAS THERE?

BEFORE RELIGION, WHAT WAS THERE?

Before churches.

Before mosques.

Before temples.

Before denominations.

Before labels.

There were humans looking at the stars.

There were people watching the sun rise and set.

There were mothers giving birth.

People falling in love.

People grieving death.

People asking questions.

Who am I?

Why am I here?

What happens when I die?

Why is there something instead of nothing?

Before religion, there was wonder.

Before doctrine, there was curiosity.

Before arguments, there was the search.

Some believe that search eventually led humanity to God.

Others believe it led humanity to create religion.

Either way, the question came first.

The desire to know.

The desire to understand.

The desire to look at existence and ask:

“What is really going on here?”

Maybe the most important thing isn’t pretending we already know everything.

Maybe it’s never losing the courage to ask.
