JJBA x Fashion

I’ve been doing a JoJo’s bizarre adventure X fashion runways on my art page, and I wanted to bring it here. I’m a huge fan of of the show and the author models, his characters poses and references and designs of the characters after famous fashion shows and supermodels of the 90s and I really wanted to circle back. And bring the high fashion attitude to their fits if they were like real life characters.

Background on me, I went to fashion and design school for two years and my main focus was fashion illustration. But my school didn’t have it and I transferred to a school that didn’t have a fashion design program in general so I haven’t done this in a while, and I’m really glad to be drawing again

... Read moreAs someone deeply invested in both fashion and JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure, combining these two passions offers a refreshing outlet for creativity. JoJo’s iconic poses and flamboyant character designs naturally lend themselves to the dramatic flair of high fashion. The 90s fashion scene, known for its bold silhouettes, eclectic styles, and supermodel aesthetics, provides a vibrant backdrop that perfectly complements the show’s unique art and storytelling. When I started merging JoJo’s characters with designs inspired by famous 90s fashion shows and supermodels, I found it exciting to reinterpret their outfits with a blend of realism and stylized drama. This fusion highlights the characters' personalities while respecting the surreal essence of the original series. For instance, the strong shoulders, eclectic layering, and striking color palettes typical of 90s runway fashion elevate the characters’ existing designs, making them plausible yet still fantastical as real-world fashion icons. Studying fashion illustration at school, despite the challenges of program availability, enriched my understanding of garment construction, fabric behavior, and dynamic posing, which translated well into these artworks. Fashion illustration encourages an appreciation for how clothing moves and interacts with the body, which is crucial when adapting animated characters into realistic fashion models. For fans of both anime and fashion, this cross-over approach bridges two distinct worlds, offering inspiration for cosplay, fashion styling, and art projects. It also encourages looking beyond traditional fandom art by incorporating industry techniques, historical fashion knowledge, and personal artistic growth. Sharing this work on platforms like Lemon8 not only connects with like-minded creatives but also fosters a community where fashion, art, and storytelling intersect. If you’re an aspiring artist or a JoJo fan, experimenting with fashion-inspired character redesigns is a rewarding challenge that helps develop your artistic voice and expands your imaginative horizons.
