Book Review: Instructions for Dancing
Wow. I cant believe I almost didn't read this because it's YA. I think this book changed my mind about YA. This read was such a romantic, heartbreaking romance. Evie showed so much growth throughout the book, and in the end, she learned how important love is. Yes, everything doesn't always end the way you want it to, but that doesn't mean that time wasn't valuable.
The twist at the end almost made me throw the whole book away, but as much as I didn't like it, the ending made sense for the story. X was the perfect book boyfriend in a way that was so human and comforting, I find myself wishing this is what my first love was like. I dont know what it is about the name Xavier, but they always turn out to be the best book boyfriends. The way they connected through dance was so nice. I love the way X never shied away from Evie's cynicism, he loves her through it. Read this if you haven't.

Okay, so let's talk about the book cover for 'Instructions for Dancing' by Nicola Yoon! I know a lot of you search for it, and for good reason – it’s absolutely captivating. The cover features two figures dancing gracefully, surrounded by these beautiful, intricate floral designs, all set against a stunning teal background. It really gives off this ethereal, romantic vibe that perfectly hints at the magic and movement within the story without giving anything away. When I first saw it, it definitely intrigued me, especially with that vibrant color palette. It’s the kind of cover that makes you want to pick it up and just stare at it for a moment before diving in. And speaking of captivating, did you notice the quote from Jasmine Guillory on the cover? She's an incredible author herself, known for her charming and witty contemporary romances, so seeing her endorsement really adds a layer of credibility and excitement. It makes you think, 'If someone like Jasmine Guillory loves it, it must be something special!' It definitely caught my eye and, I think, subtly reassured me that even though this was a YA novel, it was going to deliver a powerful, heartfelt experience. Nicola Yoon herself is a #1 New York Times bestselling author, which, let's be honest, always sets a certain expectation. Her previous works, like 'Everything, Everything' and 'The Sun Is Also a Star,' are beloved for their emotional depth and unique storytelling. Knowing her reputation, I went into 'Instructions for Dancing' with an open mind, despite my initial hesitation about YA. This book really showcases her talent for crafting stories that resonate deeply, exploring themes of love, loss, and destiny in such a poignant way. For anyone who, like me, might be a little hesitant about diving into YA, I really encourage you to give this one a shot. Sometimes, YA gets a bad rap for being overly dramatic or simplistic, but 'Instructions for Dancing' proves that it can be incredibly complex and emotionally mature. It handles difficult topics with grace and offers a perspective on love that feels both idealistic and profoundly real. The way the characters connect through dance isn't just a plot device; it's a beautiful metaphor for how intertwined our lives can become. It's truly a testament to how a well-crafted YA story can transcend age categories and touch any reader's heart. If you're looking for a book that will make you think, feel, and maybe even shed a tear or two, this one's for you. It's more than just a pretty cover; it's a journey.
