Sequoia National Park
I had been to Sequoia National Park several times as a kid. If I could find the photos, there is one of us as kids running up to the base of one of the trees. We look like small army men approaching this enormous tree that disappears off the top of the photo. When my best friend from med school and I planned our California National Park road trip, I knew that we had to come back to Sequoia; one, so that I could get my stamp officially, and two, so that we could marvel in these amazing trees. To hear someone on the trail say, “It’s so touristy and full of posers influencers” made us sad. Yes, a lot of people were on the trails, on a Saturday, but what better escape from the heat of the city than the cool hilltops and meandering paths through the trees. We went on several other hikes off the beaten path where there were very few people… maybe they should have “roughed it” a little more and gotten out of their comfort zone…
