🍌 Black Bean Chocolate Covered Frozen Bananas

Ingredients:

* 2 cans Goode Foods Black Beans (drained & rinsed)

* 3 ripe bananas (cut in halves)

* 1/2 cup cocoa powder

* 1/3 cup maple syrup or honey

* 1/4 cup melted coconut oil

* 1 tsp vanilla extract

* Pinch of salt

* Optional: crushed peanuts, sea salt, peanut butter drizzle

🔥 Instructions:

1. Blend the base

Add both cans of black beans, cocoa powder, maple syrup, coconut oil, vanilla, and salt into a blender.

Blend until completely smooth (no chunks at all).

2. Freeze the bananas

Insert sticks (optional), place banana halves on parchment, and freeze for 1–2 hours.

3. Dip + coat

Take frozen bananas out and dip into the chocolate black bean mixture.

Let the coating build naturally—don’t try to make it perfect.

4. Add toppings

Sprinkle crushed peanuts, drizzle peanut butter, or add a pinch of sea salt.

5. Freeze again

Place back in freezer for 30–45 minutes until set.

⚡ Real talk:

You won’t taste the beans.

But you WILL notice:

* thicker chocolate

* richer bite

* way more filling

This is what happens when pantry food actually gets used right.

... Read moreIf you're looking to elevate your frozen banana treats, incorporating black beans into the chocolate coating is a total game-changer. I tried this recipe recently using Goode Foods black beans, which are known for being preservative-free and high-quality. What surprised me most was how the black beans added a creamy texture without any noticeable bean flavor, making the chocolate coating richer and denser. Using natural sweeteners like maple syrup instead of refined sugar complemented the cocoa powder beautifully, giving the coating a subtle sweetness that balanced well with the slight earthiness from the black beans. I found the coconut oil an essential ingredient because it solidifies nicely when chilled, helping to create that perfect hard chocolate shell on the frozen bananas. The optional toppings like crushed peanuts and a drizzle of peanut butter added wonderful crunch and extra flavor layers. Adding a pinch of sea salt right after dipping the bananas enhanced the overall taste by highlighting the chocolate’s richness. Freezing the bananas first before dipping is key to get a good coating that sticks. I also liked the suggestion to just let the chocolate build naturally instead of overworking the coating, which made the process relaxed and fun. Overall, this recipe transforms pantry staples into an indulgent but healthy treat that’s great for satisfying sweet cravings without guilt. It's perfect to serve as a refreshing snack in hot weather or as a nutritious dessert option that also provides protein and fiber from the black beans.
