Guan Yu, we are not just talking about characters in the Three Kingdoms literature, but about a real person in history who has been revered to become one of the most worshiped gods of integrity in the world.
This is a story that represents his identity through important events:
1. The vow in the garden is discouraged.
The most legendary starting point is that Guan Woo, Pi, and Diao Hui took the oath of brotherhood in the discouraged garden to save the declining Han Dynasty. Guan Woo took this oath more than life. Even in the most difficult times, he never abandoned his brothers.
2. Guan Woo broke through five checkpoints. Killed six generals.
This is the event of the utmost "honesty." When Guan Woo got lost and had to be with Cao Cao temporarily, Cao Cao tried to buy his heart with fortune, money, and gave him a "sex horse," but when Guan Woo learned of where the bagpipes were, he immediately galloped to him without needing the position given by Cao Cao, and had to fight five checkpoints in the way to return to his brother.
3. Scratch the bone, heal the wound (excellent endurance)
One time, Guan Woo was shot in the arm by a poison chestnut. The "big-headed" angel doctor came to treat him with a knife to scrape the poison out of the bone fresh without anesthesia. While the average person might howl, Guan Woo sat down drinking and wandering with other generals, as if not in pain.
4.Release Cao Cao at Huayong Gorge (gratitude)
In the Battle of Sappia (Red Cliffs), Cao Cao was defeated and fled to the corner at the Huayong Gorge where Guan Udang was waiting. According to martial law, Guan Udang had to kill Cao Cao. But when Cao Cao reviewed his gratitude, Guan Uu, who adhered to gratitude, let Cao Cao go, despite himself facing the death penalty from Confucius.
Why did Guan Woo become a god?
The popularity of Guan Woo has grown so high that it is regarded as Guan Di, or the god of war, honesty and wealth, because people believe:
Merchant: Worship because you are faithful, keep your word (do business must be honest)
Military / Police: Worship because you are brave and disciplined.
Common People: Worship to Expel Evil Things and Ask for Protection
