BEFORE YOU WATCH DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE!

So, you're hyped for *Deadpool & Wolverine*? Same here! I just got back from seeing it and let me tell you, it completely cured my Marvel fatigue! But to truly appreciate every hilarious joke, every mind-blowing cameo, and every emotional beat, there are a few essential movies I highly recommend watching beforehand. Trust me, a little prep goes a long way to making this an even more epic cinema experience! First up, naturally, you absolutely have to watch Deadpool 1 & 2. If you haven't seen them, stop reading this and go watch them now! These films are crucial for introducing you to Wade Wilson's chaotic, fourth-wall-breaking humor, his unique cast of allies, and what makes him, well, *him*. You’ll understand all the inside jokes and appreciate his irreverent style perfectly. Don't worry, the R-rating is there for a reason, so definitely keep the little ones away from these too. Next, and this might surprise some of you, but based on what I saw, Loki (both seasons!) is surprisingly necessary. Remember how I mentioned a '6-D portion of the film' in my notes? Without giving away spoilers, understanding the Time Variance Authority (TVA), the multiverse, and the concepts introduced in Loki will give you so much more context for some truly mind-bending plot points. It ties into concepts that will absolutely enhance your understanding of the bigger picture of what's going on in the new movie. Seriously, don't skip it; you'll be glad you watched both seasons! For Wolverine's side of the story, Logan is a incredibly powerful and, in my opinion, a must-see film. While it's a very different, more grounded and emotional take on the character, it showcases an older, more vulnerable Wolverine. Understanding his past struggles and what drives him, especially in this more mature portrayal, will add immense emotional depth to his appearance in *Deadpool & Wolverine*. It's a fantastic movie in its own right, but it helps underscore his journey and the weight he carries. Beyond these specifics, having a general grasp of the X-Men universe is super helpful. You don't need to binge every single X-Men movie ever made, but as my notes say, 'You only need to know who the characters are honestly and a few villains.' Knowing who key characters like Professor X, Magneto, and Jean Grey are, and some of the main villains, will make all the cameos and references land better. If you do decide to watch some X-Men movies, I really recommend watching them in order of release for the best experience. It helps you track the evolution of the franchise and its characters naturally, making those surprise appearances even more impactful. Think of it as knowing the family tree before a big reunion! Seriously, doing this little bit of homework before Deadpool & Wolverine will elevate your experience from 'good' to 'OMG-I-get-everything-and-it's-amazing!' You won't regret it. Now go forth and prepare for epicness!
