There are so many fun things to do in Austin and tons of local spots you need to check out! Here are a few:
1. Allen's Boots- this is a must stop on your weekend itinerary! Located on South Congress Allen's boots has everything from hats, belts, jewelry, accessories, and of course tons of cowboy boots to choose from. There are over 10,000 boots from brands such as Lucchese, Old Gringo, Liberty Black, Frye, Ariat, and much more!
2. Proud Mary- this local spot has amazing coffee and even better brunch plates. This spot brings the flair of Melbourne Australia to Austin! There hours are 7AM-4PM daily and the kitchen closes at 3PM every day. If you go for brunch I suggest the potato hash!
3. I love you so much- an iconic mural in Austin that is so well known across the country! Located on South Congress the I love you so much is on the wall of Jo's coffee. Take photos with friends, loved ones, or even get a solo shot of you! Were you even in Austin if you didn't visit this mural??
4. BBQ- you MUST eat BBQ when you are in Austin. One of the best spots to eat barbecue in Texas. There are lots of options for where to go but I suggest going to Iron Works. The lines aren't crazy long and they have lots of options and delicious sides. A lot of famous people have come and eaten at this establishments with photos on the walls to prove it! Some of them include Reba McEntire and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. I suggest getting the beef ribs, brisket, and sausage!
5. Wonder Bar- located in North Austin in the Domain, Wonder Bar is a funky styled bar with interesting and colorful decor. They also decorate it for each holiday so it's a place you can go to multiple times a year! They have a season drink menu so check their menu before you go. All of their drinks are served in fun glasses like a cactus or a disco ball!
6. Edge Rooftop- looking for amazing skyline views and like you're right in the center of downtown? Edge Rooftop is the place to go. This rooftop is located at the top level of the J.W. Marriott hotel in downtown Austin. Usually you don't need a reservation but if you have a larger party it would be worth it to make a reservation for these stunning views. They have several drinks as well as delicious food you can order at your table. Perfect place to go at night and even during the day!
7. Aba- one of the most delicious restaurants in Austin, TX. Aba does an amazing job at Mediterranean cuisine. Located on South Congress you are transported to Europe when you step inside. Incredible outside and inside seating. If you want to eat here you have to reserve a few weeks in advance to ensure a spot. This place is very popular to visitors and locals. I suggest the whipped feta and the lamb & beef kefta!
