Princess Diana’s overnight oats are now one of my favorite easy breakfasts! Also, since I’m kind of on a mission to live a more elegant life, I thought that maybe having a princess’ breakfast was headed in the right direction.👌
THE RECIPE
1 cup rolled oats
1 cup freshly squeezed orange juice
1 cup Greek yogurt
1 tbs honey (or to taste)
1/4 tsp cinnamon (optional)
1/2 honey crisp apple or another red apple variety of your choice
juice of one lemon
1 cup fresh blueberries
1/2 cup toasted walnuts
—
- Squeeze, pour, and mix the fresh orange juice into the oats. This will take about 4-5 oranges. - Once you're don't stirring the juice into the oats, put it in a storage container of your choice and place in the fridge overnight. - Stir in Greek yogurt, honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon. - Grate the apple half into the oats and stir. - Add half of the blueberries and stir into the oats. - Serve in a pretty bowl or cup and top with the rest of the blueberries and toasted walnuts.
- Make a coffee to serve with Princess Diana's oats (optional) and enjoy!
I recently tried making Princess Diana’s overnight oats, and I have to say, it’s become my go-to breakfast when I want something both nutritious and a little special. What really stands out is the use of freshly squeezed orange juice as the soaking liquid for the rolled oats, which gives the oats a bright, tangy flavor that’s quite different from the usual milk or almond milk versions I’ve tried before. Preparing this recipe takes a bit more effort upfront—squeezing 4-5 fresh oranges isn’t something I usually do, but the freshness really makes a difference. After mixing the orange juice with the oats and refrigerating it overnight, I was eager to add the other ingredients in the morning. Stirring in Greek yogurt, honey, lemon juice, and cinnamon gave the oats a creamy and slightly sweet taste with a lovely hint of spice. Grating in the honeycrisp apple added a sweet crunch that balanced perfectly with the juicy blueberries and the occasional toasted walnut bit, which introduces a nice texture and nutty flavor. Serving it in a pretty bowl made the experience feel even more elegant, and pairing it with a freshly brewed coffee really completed the breakfast. If you’re aiming for an easy yet classy breakfast that’s nutritious and packed with fresh flavors, I highly recommend trying this recipe. It’s also very adaptable—you can swap the honeycrisp apple for any red apple variety you like or adjust the cinnamon and honey to your taste. Plus, it’s perfect for busy mornings since it’s mostly prepared the night before. Overall, this recipe feels like a little indulgence in everyday elegance, and it’s clear why Princess Diana enjoyed it so often. Give it a try if you want a refreshing change from traditional overnight oats recipes and want to start your day feeling a bit more royal!
