I grow these flowers not only to bring myself joy, but to see the joy it brings her 🌸

Sometimes it’s a lot, prepping for the season, working nonstop, and living life on top of it all. I’ve found myself busier than ever this season with no end in sight, but when I’m able to pull my head out of that busyness, I often see my mom next to me, asking how she can help or just sitting with me so I don’t have to be alone.

I grew up dreaming of giving my mom flowers every week and creating a space for her to take endless photos. And now I’m here, making that dream happen…with her right next to me 🫶🏼🥹

Thanks for being here, friend

... Read moreGardening with a loved one, especially a parent, adds a beautiful layer of meaning to the activity beyond just cultivating plants. I have personally found that tending to a cut flower garden together not only nurtures nature but also strengthens our bond through shared purpose and quiet companionship. Cut flower gardens, like the ones filled with dahlias and other blooms, can be a great way to decompress and create moments of peace amidst a busy life. What’s unique about gardening with my mom is how it becomes a collaboration where she helps and supports me, making the workload lighter and the experience more joyful. Sometimes, when life feels overwhelming with constant tasks and responsibilities, stepping outside to garden together offers a pause to breathe and appreciate simple pleasures—a breeze, the scent of blossoms, or a vibrant flower ready to cut and arrange. Additionally, involving your mom or someone special in your gardening routine creates opportunities for fun photo sessions. Flowers offer a spectacular, colorful backdrop that helps capture memories worth cherishing. It’s those small rituals—like giving flowers weekly—that turn into traditions, weaving deeper bonds and happiness. From personal experience, I recommend starting small—select flowers that grow well in your climate and are easy to maintain, like dahlias which are visually stunning and favored for cut flower bouquets. Preparing for the season may feel intense at first, but sharing the process makes it manageable. Plus, the rewarding sight of a flourishing garden and smiles from your loved ones is priceless. So, if you’re contemplating how to connect more meaningfully with family, consider a cut flower garden. Gardening with your mom might just be the nurturing, joyful escape you both need in hectic times.
