Iconic places to see the NYC skyline ✨

The city views are hard to beat... It's views that you don't come by everyday but well worth the trek if you can make the time. Visiting Manhattan is amazing as there's so much to do and see. But ever think about wanting to see what it looks like from afar? Come explore these harbors and piers that will complete your NYC visit:

- Hoboken: a quick PATH ride away from NYC with breathtaking views of the city. It's incredible how the city looks from this angle, and it's only a 10 minute train ride away.

- Queens: nope, Queens isn't just known for it's delicious food. It has more than just that. There are so many quiet and peaceful viewpoints that overlook Manhattan. And it's just wonderful.

- Staten Island: yup, the free ferry ride will expose amazing views of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty. This is the best time to visit during sunset as you can see how bright lady radiates the city :')

... Read moreHey fellow city explorers! You know how much I adore NYC, and while being in the hustle and bustle is amazing, there’s something truly magical about stepping back and admiring its iconic skyline from a distance. I've found that these viewpoints offer not just incredible photo opportunities, but also a chance to really appreciate the grandeur of Manhattan. Here are some more tips and personal insights to make your skyline-gazing adventure even better! Hoboken: More Than Just a Quick Trip Across the Water My absolute favorite spot for breathtaking views has to be Hoboken, New Jersey. It’s seriously just a quick PATH train ride from Manhattan, and the moment you step out, you’re greeted with an unparalleled panorama. I especially love strolling along the waterfront from Pier A Park all the way to Frank Sinatra Park. The way the light hits the skyscrapers, especially during golden hour, is just mesmerizing. I once saw a lone yellow kayak on what looked like a rocky beach near the water, with the skyline as a backdrop against a vivid pink and purple sunset sky – it was a scene straight out of a postcard! It's not just about the view; Hoboken itself has a charming vibe with cute cafes and shops. I often grab a coffee and find a bench, just watching the city lights twinkle to life as dusk settles. It’s amazing how close it feels, yet you get such a different perspective of the entire Manhattan skyline. Don't rush your visit here; take time to walk the entire stretch of the waterfront for various angles and photo ops. Queens: Peaceful Urban Oasis with Jaw-Dropping Views When I crave a more serene setting to admire the city, I head to Queens. Forget just the food scene (though it's fantastic!), Queens offers some incredibly quiet and peaceful viewpoints that are true hidden gems. Gantry Plaza State Park in Long Island City is my go-to. You'll find lush green leaves framing the Midtown Manhattan skyline, and it’s a perfect spot for a leisurely stroll along the waterfront path. The park is beautifully maintained, with iconic Pepsi-Cola sign adding a touch of vintage charm to the modern cityscape. It’s less crowded than some other spots, making it ideal if you want to sit and reflect, or even have a picnic with friends. I love coming here on a sunny afternoon; the clarity of the view is just stunning, and you can really pick out individual buildings. It’s my secret escape when I need a moment of calm away from the city's intensity, yet still want to feel connected to its energy. Staten Island Ferry: The Free Cruise with a Million-Dollar View Okay, so this isn't exactly a "point" but more of a moving experience, and it's absolutely free – which makes it even better! The Staten Island Ferry is a total classic for a reason. I always recommend it, especially for first-timers. The highlight for me is undoubtedly the close-up view of the Statue of Liberty. I planned my trip once to catch the sunset, and let me tell you, seeing Lady Liberty against a colorful sunset sky, with the city lights beginning to glow, is an experience you won't soon forget. The way she radiates against the changing colors of the sky is something truly special. Make sure to stand on the right side of the ferry (facing forward) on the way to Staten Island for the best views of the Statue of Liberty and Lower Manhattan, and then the left side on the way back for continued skyline appreciation. It’s a round trip, so you don't even have to get off if you're just there for the views! It offers a unique perspective of the harbor, Governors Island, and the entirety of lower Manhattan. Dress warmly if you go in cooler months, as it can get quite breezy on the deck! These spots truly complete any NYC visit, offering diverse and unforgettable ways to see the greatest skyline in the world. Happy exploring!
