Is it safe to solo travel Philly? ✨
Philadelphia is known to be the sixth largest city in the US. There is a ton of things to do, restaurants to try out, bars to enjoy the night, but is it necessarily safe to solo travel? I have visited Philly a handful of times since it is 2 1/2 hours away from New York City. I have visited with friends and one or two times by myself. I have had different experiences with both and from my experience, solo traveling in Philly is possible, but it also is not as fun. You will be having a lot of downtime, which also means that you might get lonely, going from one landmark to the other.
It is relatively safe, but I also suggest renting a car if you are visiting through the evening. And since there are a ton of restaurants, it’s definitely nice being able to share dishes with someone else. I suggest visiting on the weekends because it is more lively, and more of a chance of running into someone else also solo traveling.
With this all being said, would you solo travel Philly?

Philadelphia, the sixth largest city in the US, is rich in history and culture, making it a popular destination for solo travelers. Safety is a common concern for those venturing alone, especially during the evening. It's encouraged to stay in well-populated areas and rent a car for better mobility. Visiting during weekends can enhance the experience as the city comes alive with activities, making it easier to meet fellow travelers or locals. Popular attractions such as the Liberty Bell and Independence Hall are must-sees, offering both educational and enriching experiences. Engaging in local tours can also provide companionship and safety, as guided groups navigate the city’s iconic landmarks together. Dining is another essential aspect of traveling. Philadelphia boasts a diverse culinary scene, famous for its cheesesteaks and an abundance of restaurants serving a variety of cuisines. Consider joining food tours or communal dining experiences to make meals more enjoyable and lessen feelings of loneliness.
