Looking back on my journey, I realize how much painful experiences like depression, anxiety, and toxic friendships shaped my early years. If I could speak to my younger self, I’d emphasize the importance of recognizing that the emotional struggles—insomnia, stress reactions, and feelings of despair—aren’t permanent states, even when they feel overwhelming. One of the hardest lessons I learned was about the impact of bad friend choices. Some people in our lives can hurt us deeply, whether intentionally or not. It’s crucial to identify those relationships and protect yourself by setting boundaries or stepping away. Trust is something that must be earned carefully, especially when you’ve been hurt before. Don’t rush into open trust; take your time and prioritize your emotional safety. I also want younger me to know that self-harm, while it may seem like a way to deal with pain, does not bring true relief. It leaves scars that remind you of that pain, but there are healthier ways to cope—whether it’s talking to someone you trust, engaging in creative outlets, or seeking professional support. Healing is a gradual process, and it's okay to ask for help. Grace and patience with yourself are essential. Life will throw many challenges your way, but with resilience and self-compassion, you can move past the hurt. You’ll see that pain, while real and difficult, doesn’t have to define you. You’re stronger than you think, and every day is a new chance to grow and heal.
