Salon quality hair without the salon price
I didn’t always have extra money to spend to get my hair done at a salon when I was a university student, and I couldn’t do it myself. So I found a great alternative: cosmetology school!
Pros:
- PRICE: my color was $65 at Paul Mitchell or $45 at smaller school
- Wash + style included
- Quality: Because the work is supervised, my hair color always turned out great.
Cons:
- Time: because the stylists are students, the appointments take longer
- Scheduling: schools don’t typically have weekend appointments
- Haircuts: If doing anything other than a trim, I would recommend going to a salon.
***Ask for a Level II student (a student nearing graduation) when booking the appointment + always check reviews of the school!

Are you tired of spending a fortune on salon visits? Consider visiting your local cosmetology school for affordable hair services! Many schools offer impressive quality due to the supervision of experienced instructors. While prices can be dramatically lower—like $45 for color—appointments might take longer since stylists are still in training. It's advisable to go for a trim at a salon but color services can be just as good at these schools. Be sure to book your appointments with Level II students, as they are nearing graduation and have more experience. Reading reviews and asking questions about the services can also help you find a reputable school. Entering a new hair journey doesn’t have to break the bank; explore affordable alternatives to enjoying beautiful hair today!
