WHAT I WOULD DO DIFFERENT AS A BEGINNER IN THE GYM
As someone who has gone through ALL the extremes with my journey; from extreme restriction to bulking, I want to give you the TOP 3 things that I wish I would’ve known at the start of my journey!
These three things are SOOO overlooked and not taken seriously enough when it comes to making and sustaining progress in the gym.
I call these the “foundation” tools…meaning nothing else in your journey will be as stable or consistent without these:
1. PRIORITIZE REST. Sleep and recovery is by far THE MOST important tool to your success in your fitness journey. Overtraining can lead to burn out and actually inhibit your gains because you aren’t allowing your muscles to rest enough to rebuild the torn muscle fibers!
2. EAT MORE. Guess what? Your body NEEDS FOOD to not only build muscle, but also LOSE FAT. If you want long-term sustainable results, HIT THAT PROTEIN GOAL and make sure you are eating enough!
3. QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. I think a lot of people get confused by the pressure of progressive overload. Yes, the more you increase the intensity of your workout, the more progress you will make…but the RATE you increase the intensity is what needs to be SLOWED DOWN. Focus on how the weight feels and how much you are able to control it while maintaining solid mind-muscle connection.
I hope this helped! Remember consistency is key so keep on keeping on ;).

Starting your fitness journey can be overwhelming, especially with conflicting advice on training and nutrition. Many beginners underestimate the importance of rest. Not allowing your body enough recovery time can hinder muscle growth and lead to burnout. Likewise, proper nutrition is crucial; often, those looking to build muscle also fear calories. In reality, consuming enough nutrients, especially protein, is vital for muscle repair and fat loss. Focusing on the quality of your workouts rather than just lifting heavier weights is also essential. Rather than rushing through exercises, ensure you maintain good form and a strong mind-muscle connection, as this will enhance your overall results. Emphasizing these foundational points can set you up for lasting success in your fitness endeavors. Remember, consistency truly is key. Celebrate small victories, track your progress, and don’t hesitate to seek guidance from experienced fitness enthusiasts or trainers. As you navigate through the numerous challenges and triumphs on your path, keep these fundamental principles close at hand, and you will develop a rewarding and effective gym routine.
