WHAT FITNESS INFLUENCERS AREN’T TELLING YOU
1. you have to eat…and you may get uncomfortable.
Yessss mammas, food is your FRIEND!! If you want to get serious about your gains, up those carbs and protein bbg. What a lot of influencers don’t tell you is the NUMBER of building and cutting phases that they’ve gone through just to get to where they are. Looking shredded while having a dump-truck is 1 part genetics and 2 parts trusting and committing to the process.
2. It takes years, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.
As I mentioned, lots of influencers aren’t telling you how long it took them to get to where they are. depending on the person; it can take multiple cutting and bulking phases or one long maintenance phases just to get to the end goal (which can sometimes mean YEARS). Anyone who tells you otherwise is lying, trying to sell you something or worse, being dishonest about work they’ve gotten done.
3. Progressive overload matters, but not as much as you think.
Of course, progressive overload is a beneficial TOOL for muscle growth…but I do think that it’s turned into a “buss word” forsure. You can see much more growth and progress from paying attention to the WAY you lift/form instead of just how much you’re lifting. Chances are, even if you are consistently progressively overloading, you won’t see progress if your form is crap.
In the world of fitness, many influencers create an illusion of quick results, often neglecting the hard work behind their transformations. One crucial aspect frequently omitted is the necessity of increasing your food intake, particularly carbohydrates and protein, to fuel muscle growth. This journey can be uncomfortable but is essential for success. Moreover, the process of any significant transformation typically takes years rather than weeks, involving multiple phases of bulking and cutting. Recognizing the time investment required is key to setting realistic expectations. Most importantly, while progressive overload is a widely discussed concept, focusing on proper form and lifting technique can deliver better results. Understanding that form often trumps sheer weight can lead to more sustainable growth and strength gains. By learning these lesser-known truths, you can navigate the fitness landscape more effectively and avoid common pitfalls.
