3 MISTAKES I MADE THAT MADE ME LOSE PROGRESS
Looking back to the start of my journey, I’ve made plenty of mistakes, so I hope that sharing my struggles can help you avoid the same pitfalls!
1. biting off more than I could chew. I started with intense workouts and unrealistic goals that weren't sustainable long-term. I learned that consistency is key, and it’s better to build a routine you can stick to rather than burning out after a few weeks.
2. Copying others. Another big mistake I did was copying what others were doing without considering my own body’s needs. I followed fitness influencers religiously, assuming that their routines would work for me too. But everyone’s body is different, and what works for one person might not work for another. I had to find what exercises, diets, and schedules best suited my body and goals.
3. Ignoring hormonal health. I completely ignored the importance of hormonal health and cortisol management. I didn’t realize how much stress and hormonal imbalances could affect my progress. Once I started paying attention to my body’s signals and managed my cortisol levels, I saw improvements not just in my physical progress but in how I felt overall.
Fitness journeys are often fraught with challenges, and recognizing common mistakes can aid in paving a smoother path to success. One significant error many make is overcommitting to unrealistic workout regimens. Instead of adopting extreme programs, focusing on sustainable routines fosters long-term consistency, ultimately leading to more substantial success. Moreover, the tendency to mirror others' fitness plans can lead to frustration and stagnation. Each person's body reacts differently to exercise and dietary changes, emphasizing the importance of personalized approaches. Conducting thorough research and tailored planning can significantly enhance effectiveness and enjoyment in workouts. Finally, hormonal health plays a crucial role in one's fitness progress. Stress management, particularly cortisol levels, is essential. High stress can impede recovery and lead to weight gain, even among those committed to their fitness. Incorporating mindfulness practices, adequate sleep, and balanced nutrition can help maintain hormonal balance, aligning physical and mental well-being for better results. By addressing these common pitfalls, individuals can cultivate a healthier relationship with fitness and achieve their goals more effectively.
