Strawberry Almond French Toast Bake ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿž

Sharing a favorite in my home - a French toast bake! There are so many variations you can make from this base recipe, and this version uses fresh strawberries and almond milk. Combining fresh fruit and French toast to make the best easy breakfast or brunch for spring time ๐ŸŒธ

โœจIngredients:

-1 stick of butter

-1 cup brown sugar

-1 1/2 cups vanilla almond milk

-4 eggs

-1/2 loaf of brioche bread

- 1/2 cup of sliced strawberries

โœจDirections:

- melt together brown sugar and butter and pour into the bottom of a glass dish

- slice the brioche bread into triangles and layer on top of the brown sugar butter mixture

- whisk together milk and eggs in a separate bowl

- SLOWLY pour the milk and egg mixture over the bread. You only need to use enough to moisten the bread, you donโ€™t want it to be soggy. You might not need to use all of the mixture.

- layer sliced strawberries along the edges and in between the slices of bread

- cover with foil and bake @ 350 for 45 minutes

โœจTips:

- depending on the size pan you use you might not need the whole loaf of bread! I used a 8x8 here and used about half a loaf

One thing I found helpful from my experience is to use brioche bread because its rich texture soaks up the almond milk and egg mixture perfectly without becoming soggy. When melting the brown sugar and butter mixture, ensure the sugar dissolves fully to add that luscious caramel flavor to the base. A tip I learned is to pour the milk and egg mixture slowly and gradually over the bread triangles. This technique helps maintain the ideal moisture level so the French toast bake stays tender yet holds its shape. Adding fresh sliced strawberries both between the bread layers and on top not only enhances the visual appeal but also contributes a fresh burst of natural sweetness. For a nuttier depth, consider sprinkling slivered almonds on top before baking. They provide a lovely crunch contrast to the soft French toast. Additionally, covering the dish with foil while baking helps the mixture cook evenly and retain moisture. Removing the foil for the last 10 minutes can help achieve a golden, slightly crisp top layer. Nutritionally, this bake is well-balanced with about 320 calories per serving and a moderate amount of protein and fats, making it a satisfying brunch option. Using vanilla almond milk keeps it dairy-free and lends a subtle nutty flavor that complements the strawberries exquisitely. Whether you want a cozy weekend brunch or a make-ahead breakfast for busy mornings, this Strawberry Almond French Toast Bake is simple to prepare and sure to please. I've found that letting it rest for a few minutes after baking before cutting helps the slices hold together better. Enjoy it with a drizzle of maple syrup or a dollop of Greek yogurt for added richness and tang! This recipe is incredibly versatile too. You can swap strawberries with other berries or fruits you have on hand, and substitute the almond milk for regular milk or any plant-based milk. Itโ€™s a fantastic base for customizing your personalized French toast bake to suit every taste and season.
