Ideas to style your empty wall spaces
Choosing what to hang on your walls can be a big commitment! Artwork and mirrors are not cheap, so it can be a bit overwhelming when trying to make sure you choose the perfect pieces for each empty wall space.
I still have plenty of spaces I still need to fill, but for now here’s what I have hanging:
-large canvas painting (Etsy- original piece): I’ve had this painting for almost 5 years now and I still love it. It was definitely expensive because I commissioned it from an Etsy artist - but I love it and think it was so worth the price!
-Ikea mirror ($100): so pretty ✨✨ and fits the space perfectly
-square canvas (Target $40) and set of three floral paintings (Target $70): make my bedroom so homey and cozy!
Okay, so we've talked about styling those big, blank wall spaces, but what about those *awkward empty corners*? For the longest time, I found myself staring at them, wondering if they were just destined to collect dust. But I've learned that with a little creativity, those corners can become some of the most charming and functional spots in your home! My first go-to for an empty corner is always greenery. A tall, leafy plant can instantly breathe life into a forgotten space. Imagine a sleek snake plant or a vibrant fiddle leaf fig nestled in a corner of your modern living and dining area, softening the architectural lines. It adds a pop of natural color and makes the room feel so much more inviting. Plus, caring for a plant is a rewarding little ritual. Next up, consider smart storage and display. While a large abstract canvas painting looks amazing on a wide wall, a corner calls for something more tailored. I love the idea of floating corner shelves. You can use them to display a curated collection of small items—maybe some personal photos, a stack of favorite books, or even smaller versions of those lovely floral paintings. In an entryway, especially if it's tight, a slim console table or a small corner cabinet can be incredibly practical for keys, mail, or a beautiful vase, much like how a console table is used under a gold-framed mirror on a flat wall. It keeps clutter at bay while adding a decorative touch. For a more substantial corner, especially in a bedroom with a cream headboard, I've had great success creating a cozy nook. If you have the space, a petite armchair paired with a stylish floor lamp can transform an unused corner into a perfect reading spot. Add a soft throw blanket and a small side table for your cup of tea, and you’ve got an instant sanctuary. It's about giving that corner a purpose beyond just being 'empty.' And let's not forget about accent lighting. Beyond the reading lamp, an uplighter or a sculptural floor lamp can highlight the corner itself, adding depth and ambient light to the room. It's a simple trick that can make a huge difference in the evening ambiance. Sometimes, a tall, narrow mirror, perhaps even a gold-framed one, leaning in a corner can also create an illusion of more space and reflect light beautifully, making a small room feel larger and brighter. Don't be afraid to experiment with different heights and textures! The key is to think about what function the corner could serve and then find pieces that fit both your style and the space.
