positives & negatives

Recap ::

Positives:

- I have significantly seen my moods change for the better. I am not as depressed or sad as I was on the pill. I also have struggled with bi-polar and those symptoms have calmed down a lot. My libido was also so low 👎🏼 My emotions were a big part of my mental health and now I seem balanced & happier then ever 🥹

- My periods were all over the place before and even during taking birth control. Now that I am off of it, my periods are regulated. Although the cramps are worse now, I at least know when my period is coming.

- I did a paper last semester on the impact hormonal birth control has on women and that’s when I ultimately decided to stop taking it. Your chance of stroke is increased, blood clots is increased, mental illness is increased, etc.

Negatives:

- I used to have big biddies and a decent butt, but now i’ve lost over 10 pounds from my stomach, boobs, and butt. although that damages my self esteem, it is much better then other mental effects.

- No birth control = baby if you’re not safe. This part really stinks for my partner and I since condoms bother me and I would not like to take the morning after pill every time afterwards. We try to be safe while also having fun but it sometimes can take the fun out of it :/

... Read moreGetting off birth control can lead to significant changes in both physical and emotional health. Many individuals report an improvement in mood and emotional stability after discontinuing hormonal contraceptives, as seen in the personal experiences shared here. Women often experience a more regulated menstrual cycle, even though they might face increased cramping. Additionally, the risk factors associated with hormonal birth control, such as increased chances of stroke and mental health disorders, are vital considerations when making the decision to stop. On the other hand, the transition can also have its drawbacks. Changes to body weight and self-esteem are common among those who stop taking birth control. It's not uncommon for individuals to experience weight loss, which can affect body image and confidence. Furthermore, the absence of hormonal regulation means that reliable contraceptive methods become essential to prevent unintended pregnancies, which may complicate intimate relationships. Hence, finding a balance between sexual health and personal comfort becomes a priority. Overall, understanding the full spectrum of effects—both positive and negative—can help individuals make informed choices about their reproductive health.
