What I Actually Do All Day as a 23yo SAHM (with timestamps!)
Being a SAHM isn’t glamorous 24/7. It’s diapers before breakfast, trying to remember to drink water, squeezing in a pump session, celebrating every little milestone, cleaning during naps, and somehow finding time to eat.
Some days feel repetitive.
Some days feel exhausting.
But one day I’ll miss these little routines.
This is what an average day looks like for me with my 4-month-old, timestamps and all. I love seeing what other moms’ days look like because no two are ever the same.
✨ If you’re a stay-at-home mom, what’s one thing that’s part of your daily routine no matter what?
Saving these little memories here because I know they won’t stay little forever. 🤍
Being a stay-at-home mom (SAHM) is truly a unique journey filled with both challenges and cherished moments. From my experience, the key to managing the day effectively is embracing flexibility alongside routine. I’ve found that the disciplined use of timestamps throughout the day, like starting with diaper changes and feeding first thing in the morning, helps me structure my time without feeling overwhelmed. Hydration and nutrition are often overlooked but critical parts of the day — for both mom and baby. I make sure to stay caffeinated with my favorite cotton-flavored energy drink around mid-morning while pumping milk to maintain supply. The little celebrations, such as stopping for a cupcake to mark a milestone like my baby’s 4-month checkup or vaccinations, add joy and a sense of accomplishment. It’s important to honor these small wins. Cleaning and household chores become a balancing act with the baby’s nap times. For example, I often do dishes while my baby naps, making the most of quiet moments. Babywearing while prepping meals, like pasta salad, lets me keep my baby close and comforted while managing household tasks. Evenings are reserved for winding down with a family celebration, including daddy joining in for dinner and bathing time before putting the baby to sleep for the night. These routines create a comforting rhythm and memories I’ll treasure forever. For other SAHMs or new moms, my best advice is to cherish the small routines because though some days feel repetitive or exhausting, these moments will become precious as your baby grows. Sharing experiences with other moms helps you feel less alone and provides fresh ideas to keep your days manageable and meaningful.
