Money tree Drama

This is the third money tree I've had, maybe fourth and I killed them all but two, one is halfway bald head, so this time I took the rubber bands off and did a repot and hopefully this will make a difference. Do you take the rubber bands off of your money tree? #moneytree #plants #houseplants #iloveplants #Lemon8Diary

A common challenge I've faced is the use of rubber bands around the trunks or stems. These bands are often applied to train the tree to grow in a certain shape or to keep the branches together, but they can inadvertently cause damage if left on too long. The bands can restrict growth, cause constriction marks, or even lead to dieback on branches. When I noticed that most of my money trees suffered from thinning foliage or partially bald stems, I realized the rubber bands might have contributed to their distress. This time, I carefully removed all rubber bands before repotting. Repotting itself is beneficial because it refreshes the soil, improves aeration, and allows the roots more freedom to grow. Using fresh, well-draining soil suitable for money trees is key to preventing root rot and promoting healthy growth. Additionally, I made sure to place the repotted money tree in a location with bright, indirect light and maintained a consistent watering schedule—allowing the top inch of soil to dry out between waterings. I also monitored humidity levels since money trees thrive in slightly humid environments. These combined steps—removing restrictive rubber bands and proper repotting—resulted in a noticeable improvement in my money tree's health. If you have money trees or other popular houseplants, I encourage experimenting with gently loosening any ties or bands that might be restricting growth. Also, regular repotting every couple of years can rejuvenate your plants and prevent common issues. Ultimately, plant care requires attention to detail and patience, but with the right approach, your money tree can thrive and bring a beautiful, lush vibe to your home.
