Fortnite extreme FOV
How did my camera get so far back? 🙃🤷♂️🤣

Okay, so after my wild 'Accidental extreme FOV in Fortnite!' moment, where my camera just zoomed out to give me this super wide view, I started thinking a lot about FOV in Fortnite. For those who might not know, FOV stands for Field of View. Basically, it's how much of the game world you can see on your screen at one time. In many games, you get a slider to adjust this, letting you see more or less of your surroundings. But here’s the kicker: Fortnite doesn't have a traditional FOV slider in its main Battle Royale modes! That's why my 'accidental extreme FOV' experience was so shocking and made me ask, 'How did my camera get so far back?' It felt like a total glitch, and honestly, it was both disorienting and kinda cool to see so much more of the map! Historically, players used to achieve a wider (or 'extreme') FOV in Fortnite by playing on stretched resolutions. This would literally stretch the game image across the screen, making characters look wider but also giving a broader peripheral view. Many competitive players swore by it because it could help with spotting enemies at the edges of their screen. However, Epic Games eventually made changes to prevent players from gaining these advantages, aiming for a more level playing field. So, if you're searching for how to get an extreme FOV, it's not as straightforward as it used to be. Most players now stick to native resolutions. So, if it wasn't stretched resolution, what could cause an 'accidental extreme FOV' like mine? I've heard about a few possibilities. Sometimes, it can just be a temporary visual bug, especially after respawning or exiting a certain vehicle. Other times, specific creative maps or limited-time modes might have their own unique FOV settings that can temporarily affect your perception when you switch between modes. The numbers '2 50 100' I saw in my glitch moment might even be some internal game values that got messed up! It's wild to think about. Experiencing that wider view, even if accidental, really made me think about the impact of FOV. A higher FOV means you see more, which sounds great for situational awareness. You might spot enemies flanking you more easily. But it also makes distant objects appear smaller and faster, which can make long-range aiming harder. A lower FOV, on the other hand, gives you a more zoomed-in, focused view. Enemies look bigger, making aiming potentially easier, but your peripheral vision is severely limited. It's a constant trade-off in games that offer FOV customization. For us Fortnite players, since we don't have that direct control, we just have to adapt. Many pros play on specific aspect ratios or monitor sizes to maximize their visual information within the game's constraints. If you ever find yourself with an unexpected FOV change, whether it's a bug or a creative mode setting, just try to adjust. Sometimes, restarting the game can fix visual glitches like this. While my 'accidental extreme FOV' was a funny moment, it really highlighted how much a simple camera perspective can change the entire feel of the game!
