Paint & Sip At Home Date Night

Hubby and I have two kids so it’s hard to find a babysitter to watch them. Why not do something at home? We went to Target and found canvases, paint, and paint brushes for such a low price. We tried to paint each other, but as you guys can obviously see we are not experienced in painting AT ALL🫠😂 As we were painting, we listened to some soothing love r&b and asked each other questions. Sometimes we forget to have conversations with each other without bringing up the kids or what needs to be done. This date night was a great example of us learning each other again after having children. 🥲 This was so fun. We were both excited to do the date night. Keep dating while married. My husband and I always make sure we get time for each other when he comes home. We aren’t perfect, but it’s worth being in ❤️

Now he taking me to get cookies 💕💕💕💕💕

Side note: XXL blackberry wine is STRONNGGGG😩, but it’s so good. I enjoyed it🥰

An at-home paint and sip date night is the perfect solution! My husband and I recently tried this, and it was such a refreshing experience, reminding us why it's so important to keep dating even after marriage. First things first, gather your art supplies. You don't need to break the bank! We found canvases, various paint sets (acrylics are easy to work with and clean up), and a set of paintbrushes at our local Target for a super low price. Don't forget a couple of water cups for rinsing brushes and some paper towels for messes. For the 'sip' part, grab your favorite beverage. We enjoyed some XXL blackberry wine, which was strong but delicious! You can choose anything from wine or sparkling cider to your favorite craft beers or even fancy mocktails. Next, set the mood! This is crucial for making it feel like a special date, not just another night at home. Dim the lights, light some candles, and put on a music playlist. We opted for soothing R&B, like the 'date night' playlist I found with H.E.R.'s 'Best Part' – it instantly created a romantic and relaxed atmosphere. Clear off a table, lay down some newspaper or a cheap tablecloth to protect the surface, and arrange your art supplies and drinks. Seeing all the colorful paints and blank canvases laid out really gets the creative juices flowing! Now for the painting! What to paint? You can try painting each other, as we did. It was incredibly funny and led to lots of laughter, even though our painted portraits were far from masterpieces! The goal isn't perfection; it's the shared experience and the memories you create. If painting portraits feels too daunting, you could try abstract art, a simple landscape, or even find a 'follow-along' tutorial on YouTube. Some couples enjoy painting separate pieces and then combining them, or even painting on one large canvas together. The key is to have fun and not take it too seriously. We spent our time painting, listening to music, and asking each other questions, which helped us reconnect beyond the usual kid-related chats. This kind of date night isn't just about the art; it's about intentional time together. In the rush of daily life, especially with children, it's easy to forget to just talk and be with your partner. These moments are invaluable for strengthening your bond and remembering why you fell in love. Plus, it's incredibly budget-friendly compared to going out. After we finished our 'masterpieces,' we even treated ourselves to some cookies – the perfect sweet ending to a perfect evening. So, if you're looking for a simple yet meaningful way to keep the spark alive, an at-home paint and sip date night is definitely worth a try!
