Turned A Jewelry Box to a Prayer Box!💕💕💕

I wanted to do a paint activity with my children tonight, so I went to my go-to… TARGET! 🎯💖 I grabbed them the $5 Christmas painting activity kits 🎨✨ and while looking for something for me to paint, I came across this $12 glass jewelry box painting kit! 💎🖌️

I was like, “OMG this is so cute!” 😍 but I didn’t know what I’d use it for… until it hit me, make it a PRAYER BOX! 🙏📦✨

I even added one of my favorite scriptures:

“Then you will call on me and come and pray to me, and I will listen to you.” Jeremiah 29:12 (NIV) 📖✨

Honestly, I wish I would’ve grabbed some patches and extra decorations to customize it even more 😅💗 but I think it came out so cute and personal. I’m going to tweak a few things so the scriptures show better, but I LOVE that I’ll be using it to hold all my prayer cards, instead of doing a prayer wall. 🙌💛✨#targetfinds #christianlifestyle #christiangirly

... Read moreAfter transforming my glass jewelry box into a prayer box, I got so many questions about how to make your own, and honestly, the possibilities are endless! I wanted to share a few more tips and ideas to inspire you to create your very own sacred space for prayer. Why a Prayer Box? More Than Just a Craft! For me, a prayer box isn't just a pretty craft; it's a tangible reminder of my faith and a dedicated space for my conversations with God. In our busy lives, it's easy for prayer to feel rushed or forgotten. Having a physical box helps me focus my intentions, collect my thoughts, and truly set aside time for reflection. It's a beautiful way to organize prayer requests, gratitude notes, and even testimonies of answered prayers. When I open mine and see all my little prayer cards, it reminds me of God's faithfulness and how He listens, just like Jeremiah 29:12 says. Beyond the Glass Jewelry Box: Other DIY Prayer Box Ideas While my 'MONDO LLAMA glass jewelry box painting kit' from Target worked perfectly, you don't need a specific kit to make a prayer box. Almost any container can be repurposed! Wooden Boxes: These are fantastic for a rustic or elegant look. You can paint them, stain them, wood burn designs, or even decoupage them with scripture verses or meaningful images. Shoe Boxes or Cardboard Boxes: Don't underestimate the humble shoebox! Cover it with decorative paper, fabric, or paint. You can add embellishments like ribbons, buttons, or even pressed flowers. Tin or Metal Boxes: A vintage tin box can have so much character. Give it a fresh coat of spray paint, or simply clean it up and add a hand-painted scripture on the lid. Old Recipe Boxes: These are often the perfect size for prayer cards and can be easily decorated. Making It Yours: Customization Tips! The fun part about a DIY prayer box is making it uniquely *yours*. For my glass jewelry box, I used the stencils and glass paints from the kit to create floral and leaf patterns. Next time, I'd love to add some small charms or even a personalized initial! Paint & Patterns: Whether you're using acrylics for wood, glass paints for a clear box, or spray paint for metal, choose colors that bring you peace. Experiment with stencils for intricate designs or freehand your favorite symbols. Don't forget your art supplies like paintbrushes and a palette! Embellishments: Think beyond paint! Glue on small trinkets, fabric scraps, mosaic tiles, or even photos of loved ones you're praying for. A gold frame around an opening can add a touch of elegance. Meaningful Text: Besides scriptures, you could write inspiring quotes, affirmations, or your favorite hymns on the box itself. Lining the Interior: Consider lining the inside with soft felt or pretty paper to make it feel even more special and protective for your prayer cards. What to Keep Inside Your Prayer Box Once your beautiful prayer box is complete, what do you fill it with? Prayer Requests: Write down specific requests for yourself, family, friends, or global issues. Date them so you can look back and see how God has moved. Gratitude Notes: Jot down things you're thankful for. On days you feel discouraged, opening these can be a powerful reminder of blessings. Scripture Verses: Keep your favorite verses on small cards for encouragement and meditation. Answered Prayers/Testimonies: This is so powerful! When a prayer is answered, write it down and tuck it away. It builds faith to revisit these. Intentions & Goals: Use it to hold your spiritual goals or intentions for a season. Creating a DIY prayer box is a wonderful way to deepen your spiritual journey and add a touch of personal artistry to your home. It doesn't have to be perfect; it just needs to be meaningful to you!
