I like to bunch my hair up with my fingers to make it curly but if I didn’t do that I don’t think I would even have to do this it would just stay straight and I could just use water and never have to detangle 🥑

I’ve been fascinated by the no-poo movement—where you skip shampoo and conditioner altogether—and after over four years of trying it, I can say that it’s surprisingly effective, especially for those with long, straight hair. One of the biggest changes I noticed is how my hair texture really settled into its natural state. Instead of constantly battling tangles and dryness from over-washing, my hair became more resilient and less prone to breakage. Sometimes, I like to bunch my hair up with my fingers to create curls, but if I don’t do that, my hair naturally stays straight and smooth. What I appreciate most is how easy it is to maintain—just water and gentle finger detangling are enough. This minimalist approach fits perfectly into a holistic lifestyle and feels very much connected to nature and spirituality, which are important to me. If you’re considering a similar routine, it helps to be patient during the initial transition period. Your scalp’s natural oils need time to balance out, and the hair might feel oily or unmanageable for a few weeks. But once your scalp adjusts, you’ll likely find less itchiness, fewer tangles, and a healthier scalp environment overall. Using fingers instead of combs for styling also reduces pulling and damage. This method also saves money and reduces exposure to chemicals, aligning well with natural living principles. While it’s not for everyone, I personally recommend giving the no-poo lifestyle a try if you want healthier hair without complicated routines or products.
