I mean, is there an easier bag project than this!?
When I use this bag I get compliments every single time! It's such a statement piece, it can lift up a basic outfit such as jeans and a white T and make it look fabulous. It's also SO easy to make (beginner friendly!) so today I'm gonna teach you how to make it!
You will need:
T-shirt yarn: I used a 2cm wide yarn DOUBLED. From Amazon :)
7 or 8 mm hook, depending on the width of you yarn.
Magnetic buttons
Sewing needle and thread (match the color of the yarn)
scissors
Here is the pattern:
NOTE when I say "JOIN" it means close the circle with a SL ST.
FOUNDATION: Make a MC or chain 4 and join with a SL ST.
ROW 1: Make 3ch more (counts as first DC) and make 11DC (Total of 12 stitches). JOIN.
ROW 2: Increase in every stitch - make 2DC in every stitch. Total: 24DC. JOIN.
ROW 3: Make 1DC into the first stitch, and then make 2DC into the next one. So we are increasing every other stitch. JOIN.
ROW 4: Repeat the same as row 3 but increase every 2 stitches. So it would be: 1DC-1DC-2DC. Join
ROW 5: Repeat but 1DC-1DC-1DC-2DC. Join. Cut the yarn and fasten off, weave your end.
Next, using 1 string of yarn (even if you worked doubled like I did), make SC around the edges (ON THE INSIDE PART OF THE CIRCLE) as indicated on the 3rd slide. Remember to leave enough space to open and close the bag!
When you are done, turn your bag inside out.
Sew up the Magnetic buttons inside the bag, right in the middle top part, as indicated in the same slide.
Last, cut 20 strings of yarn (1 meter long each) and attach them to the bottom of the bag with a knot or sewing, BY THE MIDDLE OF THE STRING. So the string is a meter long, but it will actually be 50cm long once it's attached to the bag, and the string will look doubled. Makes sense?
Make sure to make them look uniform! Also feel free to make more fringes if you want your bag to look more full!
