Las Negras beach day in Almeria, Spain
🏖️
Even tho it was a touch too cool to swim doesn’t mean I can’t enjoy a nice beach day. I grew up on the east coast of NC so I appreciate all beaches and beach days especially less crowded ones!
Some things to do at Las Negras are to get an ice cream at Heladería Artesanal y Cafetería Taka Tuka and walk around the neighborhood. There’s a short hike too if you are so inclined.
The time before last I bought some cool painted sneakers at an art fair. This time we also got some nice vegan pizzas at Il Capriccio they were really good. One was with vegan pesto and the other had truffle sauce! 😋

You know, sometimes the best beach days aren't about sunbathing or swimming, but about soaking in the unique atmosphere of a place. That's exactly what I found during my recent visit to Las Negras beach in Almeria, Spain. While the water might have been a bit chilly for a dip, this charming coastal village offered so much more to explore, making it one of my favorite Almeria beaches for a truly authentic experience. One of the first things that struck me was the stunning natural landscape. The rocky shoreline of Las Negras is absolutely captivating, with dramatic cliffs and a large hill overlooking the sea. It's a fantastic place for a leisurely walk, where you can feel the sea breeze and listen to the gentle waves. I even spotted some vibrant prickly pear cacti thriving in the arid landscape, adding unique pops of color – a real testament to Almeria's distinctive ecosystem. If you're feeling adventurous, there are short, scenic hikes around the area. I've heard tales of the “Ruta de los piratas” (Pirate Route), which sounds like an intriguing way to discover hidden coves and historical spots along the coast. Definitely on my list for next time! After working up an appetite, a visit to Heladería Artesanal y Cafetería Taka Tuka for some artisanal ice cream is a must. There's nothing quite like enjoying a delicious scoop while strolling through the quaint streets. And if you're like me and appreciate good food, you absolutely have to try the vegan pizzas at Il Capriccio. I was genuinely surprised by how delicious they were – especially the one with vegan pesto and another with truffle sauce. Finding such incredible plant-based options in a small Spanish village was a delightful surprise and made the meal truly memorable. It’s these unexpected culinary gems that really make a trip special. What I love most about Las Negras, and many of the less-crowded Almeria beaches, is the sense of peaceful discovery. It’s not just a tourist trap; it feels like a place where locals live and visitors are welcomed into their calm rhythm. Beyond the beach itself, you can wander through the small neighborhood, browse local craft shops (I once found some beautifully painted sneakers at an art fair here!), or simply sit at a café and watch the world go by. It’s perfect for those seeking a tranquil escape from the bustling city life. If you’re planning your own trip to Las Negras, Spain, here are a few tips: Even if it’s not swimming weather, bring comfortable shoes for exploring the rocky shoreline and any potential hikes. A camera is essential to capture the stunning views – from the clear blue skies to the unique flora. And don't forget to embrace the relaxed pace; this isn't a place for rushing. It’s about savoring every moment, whether you’re enjoying a quiet walk, discovering local flavors, or simply enjoying the natural beauty. Las Negras truly offers a different kind of beach day, a memorable slice of Almeria that I highly recommend for anyone visiting Spain.
