Church notes from college night!!

Till death do us part:

Helper means to protect, comfort and provide strength in a way you can’t provide on your own.

God created MALE and FEMALE.

Relationships break because people stop believing in love.

What you believe about love will affect every relationship in your life.

3 healthy ways to look at love:

1. True love is not based on performance.

Bad: “What can you do for me?”. Good: “what can I do for you?” IF YOU WANT A GOOD RELATIONSHIP, SERVE THEM MORE!!!

God said to Hosea I want you to be my example of how I love people by loving and marrying a prostitute!! Book of Hosea 2

God doesn’t love you based on your performance!!

We begin to think what we are missing is better than what we r given.

So she goes back to the bad place she came from but worse. After being given undeserved grace.

But Hosea 2:14… God still wants her.

True Love is based on Gods character.

Hosea purchases his wife back, she gets restored!!

2. True love starts with You.

Matthew 22:37-39

You can only love someone at the level you love yourself!!!!!

True love is doing what IS right not what FEELS right.

Loving yourself: discipline-I will or will not engage in certain behavior. Having standards- knowing what I deserve. Being encouraged and empowered to live the best life God has for me. Respect yourself. Forgive others how u forgive yourself.

Book of Ruth. 3:11… she was a woman of noble character. She had standards and integrity in a community who did not. Attracted someone who was the same.

3. True love is sacrifice.

John 15:13. Love is work. You lose the lust sometimes. Romans 2:4.

John 8:3-11… what does Jesus say… the law says stone her …but Jesus says.. “let anyone of you without sin throw a stone at her first”… only Jesus was left because everyone left (everyone is a sinner). Jesus didn’t condemn her.. Jesus declared to “go now and leave your life of sin” He declares this in a moment of love.. instead of shaming her. She’s only been told she’s damaged and wrong… but Jesus through love leads her to repentance.

Love is a choice not an emotion.

The greatest love is that someone would lay down their life for you.

While we were still sinners.. Jesus died for us… while being mocked… Jesus said to forgive them. Sacrifice.

God is love.

Before you can be equipped to love another person wholly… you first need to enter into a relationship with Jesus and experience His love. Make that same commitment to Jesus!!!!!

Forsaking what the world has to offer.. I CHOOSE YOU.

The life we deserve for our performance is death … but Jesus died for us, paid the price!! Paid for our sin and our actions.

Jesus defeated death, hell and the grave.
