Use Your Gifts🌸 to Glorify God
I find that if I don’t obey God’s will when it comes to using my gifts, I feel incomplete. A constant nagging eats at my thoughts. I don’t feel satisfied. So I’m learning to put Him first. #givinggodglory #giftfromgod #ilovespendingtimewithgod #embracevulnerability #godisgood
It's amazing how much peace and purpose flood into your life when you truly align with God's will, especially when it comes to using the incredible gifts He's blessed you with. I know for me, there was a time when I felt a constant, subtle emptiness, a nagging feeling that something was missing, even when life seemed okay on the surface. That feeling often resurfaced because I wasn't fully embracing or deploying my God-given talents in a way that honored Him. Learning to put Him first in this aspect has been transformative, and I want to share a bit about my journey and some practical steps I’ve found incredibly helpful. First, let's talk about how to identify your unique gifts. It's more than just a vague idea; it's about thoughtful reflection. Start by thinking about your strengths – what comes naturally to you? What do people often ask for your help with? Then, consider your hobbies and passions. What activities do you lose track of time doing? What truly ignites a spark within you? Don't limit yourself to overtly 'spiritual' gifts; God can use everyday abilities like organizing, cooking, listening, teaching, creating art, or even being a great friend. I've found it helpful to make a simple list of things I enjoy and excel at, then pray about how each of these could potentially serve a higher purpose. Sometimes, asking close friends or family members for their perspective on your strengths can also provide valuable insight! Once you have a clearer picture, the next crucial step is to ask yourself: How can I use my gift to help others and bring glory to God? This shifts the focus from 'what I can do' to 'who I can serve.' For instance, if you're a great cook, perhaps it's preparing meals for new parents, a sick neighbor, or volunteering at a soup kitchen. If you have a talent for writing, maybe it's encouraging others through a blog, writing thank-you notes, or sharing your faith story. The key is intentionality. Every single action, no matter how small, can be an act of worship when done with a heart to glorify God. To really make this happen, I recommend you make a list of things you can do with your gift. Don't just think about it; write it down! Brainstorm specific actions. If your gift is hospitality, your list might include: host a Bible study, invite a lonely person for dinner, organize a potluck for your community group. If it's teaching, maybe it’s tutoring a student, leading a Sunday school class, or sharing a skill with a friend. This tangible list becomes your action plan. From this list, make a monthly goal to use your gift in some way to bring glory to God. This helps keep you accountable and ensures you're consistently exercising your spiritual muscles. It doesn’t have to be grand; it could be something as simple as consciously seeking opportunities to encourage someone with your words (if your gift is encouragement) or offering a helping hand (if it’s service). For example, my goal last month was to use my gift of organization to help a friend declutter her home, which she found overwhelming. It was a small act, but it brought her so much peace, and I felt such joy knowing I was serving God by serving her. Finally, and perhaps most importantly, continually talk to God about how to best use your gifts. Prayer is our direct line to divine wisdom. Ask Him for guidance, for open doors, and for the courage to step out in faith. He knows exactly where and how your unique talents can make the biggest difference. Sometimes, we might overlook how even our family is a gift from God, and using our gifts within our own household – whether it's patience, teaching, or creating a loving atmosphere – is a powerful way to glorify Him daily. When we surrender our gifts to Him, He multiplies them and uses them in ways we could never imagine, leading to a life filled with genuine purpose and profound satisfaction.
