Books that traumatized and taught

I recall reading all of these books, or at least seeing the films, at some point in my childhood (except for Stone Fox). I watched Stone Fox & heard bits of it read when I was working in a classroom.

They all impacted me greatly, shattering my innocent view of the world through common themes of childhood, awakening, adulthood and tragedy (often involving animal companions).

I wouldn’t trade these experiences because they were SHARED, bonding all of my classmates and I through an awareness of the world we never had before. The world was beautiful, but it was also painful. And through that pain, we could all learn to value each moment we had with eachother. #books #literature #childhoodmemory
