Foundation that never fails for Oily/Combo Skin

Shade testing @NARS Cosmetics Natural Matte Longwear Foundation and my curiosity got the best of me - so I mixed all 3 shades Aruba, Syracuse & Tahoe.

I know after editing that one is my current winter shade, my in between and the other my summer shade 😭 but when mixed I think it made a pretty solid match. My makeup artist friends would laugh because I know I did this wrong but what’s the point of playing in makeup if you’re not playing with your makeup.

Thank you to NARS for gifting me these, I’m super excited to keep using these foundations😍. They came just in time for my birthday🎂.

Let me know in the comments if you’ve tried any of NARS’ foundations ⬇️

... Read moreFinding the perfect foundation when you have oily or combination skin can feel like an endless quest, right? I totally get it. For years, I struggled with foundations that promised to stay matte but would leave me shiny by lunchtime. That's why I was so excited to put the NARS Natural Matte Longwear Foundation to the test, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer for me! What makes this foundation stand out for oily and combination skin types? First off, it lives up to its 'Natural Matte' name. It provides a beautiful, natural-looking matte finish without feeling heavy or cakey. The oil-free formula is key – it controls shine throughout the day without stripping your skin or caking up in your T-zone. I've found it really helps to blur the appearance of pores, giving a smoother canvas without that dreaded flat, lifeless look. It’s also incredibly long-wearing, which is a huge bonus for anyone who needs their makeup to last from morning coffee to evening plans without constant touch-ups. One of my biggest challenges, like many of you, has always been finding the exact right shade. I have to admit, my initial swatch tests left me with a few options that were close but not quite perfect. As someone who is curious about makeup and loves to experiment, I took a cue from professional artists and decided to mix a few shades – Aruba, Syracuse, and Tahoe. And guess what? My little experiment paid off! Mixing shades isn't just for pros; it’s a fantastic way to customize your foundation, especially as your skin tone changes throughout the year (hello, summer tan!). Don't be afraid to play around; sometimes, the best match is one you create yourself. It’s definitely a fun side effect of being a makeup enthusiast! For best results on oily/combo skin, I always start with a good mattifying or blurring primer, focusing on my T-zone. I like to apply the NARS Natural Matte with a damp beauty sponge or a dense foundation brush for a seamless, natural finish. A little goes a long way with this formula, so start with a small amount and build coverage where you need it. And don't forget to set it lightly with a translucent powder, especially in areas prone to shine. This helps lock everything in place and extends wear even further. I've worn this foundation through long workdays, humid weather, and even during an evening out, and it holds up beautifully. My skin still looks fresh and matte, not greasy, which is a true testament to its long-wearing power. It feels comfortable on the skin and allows it to breathe, unlike some other heavy-duty matte foundations I've tried. If you're on the hunt for an oil-free foundation that truly delivers on its promises for oily or combination skin, I highly recommend giving NARS Natural Matte Longwear a try. It truly might become your new holy grail!
