Unisex Summer Fragrance
I’m a big Jo Malone fan and my dad brought an oldie but goodie cologne home. We’re both big fragrance connoisseurs and will swap and test out eachothers fragrances and layer them with others to see what we like.
This is one of his favorites and has become a favorite of mine since last summer that has an oriental floral scent to it. With less than a decade under its belt, this fragrance holds its own without layering with anything else.
Getting into the notes:
Top note is Ambrette (Musk Mallow); middle notes are Orris, Fig and Poppy; base notes are Tonka Bean, Heliotrope and Barley.

As a fragrance lover, I've always appreciated finding scents that feel both fresh and distinctive—especially for summer wear. Jo Malone London Scarlet Poppy has been a recent favorite of mine, thanks to its bright yet warm oriental floral character. What’s fascinating about this cologne is how it perfectly balances the airy freshness of poppy and fig with deeper, comforting undertones like tonka bean and heliotrope, creating an inviting and lasting scent. A standout for me is the ambrette top note, also known as musk mallow, which adds a subtle musky sweetness that feels natural and elegant rather than overwhelming. It’s the type of fragrance you can wear layered with others or on its own, and it holds its presence without being overpowering—ideal for daytime summer outings or even summer evening events. One of the joys of this fragrance is how it transcends gender, truly making it unisex. I’ve shared it with friends and family, and both men and women appreciate its versatility and fresh floral character mixed with cozy depth. Since it’s a relatively new release within the last decade, it brings a modern twist to classic fragrance notes but remains timeless in appeal. If you love floral scents with a light oriental edge, or if you’re seeking a summer perfume that is both memorable and easy to wear, I highly recommend giving Scarlet Poppy a try. It’s the perfect way to smell like summer without feeling like you’re trying too hard. Plus, the ability to layer it with your favorite Jo Malone or other fragrances opens many opportunities for personalized scent experiences. Have you tried Jo Malone’s Scarlet Poppy or any other unisex summer colognes? I’d love to hear about your favorites and layering tips!
