OG Tinted Sunscreens for Summer

Two tinted sunscreens that I’ve been using for over a decade and still have in my arsenal are by Supergoop and Maybelline. I remember using Maybelline’s tinted sunscreen since high school and getting introduced to Supergoop in college. Which were your fave and which do you still have in your skincare/ makeup kit?

Read moreHaving used tinted sunscreens for many years, I can confidently say that choosing the right formula can make a huge difference in both skincare and makeup routines, especially during summer. The Maybelline Dream BB Fresh combines broad-spectrum SPF 30 protection with titanium dioxide, providing not just sun defense but also a medium to deep sheer tint that evens out skin tone naturally. Its skin hydrating beauty balm formula makes it comfortable to wear throughout the day without feeling heavy or greasy. Supergoop’s Golden Hour Glow Screen SPF 40, on the other hand, offers a higher level of sun protection with a radiant finish that complements your natural glow. The light, hydrating texture layers well under makeup and lends a subtle luminosity that enhances skin’s appearance in warm weather. What I appreciate most about these OG tinted sunscreens is their multi-functionality—they serve as a sunscreen, a tinted moisturizer, and a subtle highlighter all in one. When applied, I notice that they help minimize redness and imperfections, which reduces the need for extra foundation or concealer. This is especially useful on hotter days when heavy makeup tends to feel uncomfortable. Both products also contain broad-spectrum ingredients, which means they protect skin from both UVA and UVB rays, vital for preventing premature aging and sun damage. Over the years, keeping them in my skincare and makeup kit has ensured my skin stays protected, hydrated, and looking fresh. If you haven’t tried these yet, consider starting with a shade that matches your skin tone and gradually experiment to see which finish and coverage work best for your skin type. Remember, reapplying tinted sunscreen throughout the day is key to maintaining protection, especially if you’re spending extended periods outdoors.
